Floorpate for me too! Magazines are for truck hunters.
X2 on this one..... if you have a hinged floor plate you will never lose your magazine. I have had both and I prefer the hinged floor plate.

I prefer a floorplate as I have no need for fast magazine changes. If I can't get a good steady rest and make my shot count, there's always tomorrow as our seasons are very long and generous out here. Most of the guys I know in this neck of the woods that prefer a detachable mag are the road warrior crowd. And for that style of hunting, cruising clear cuts and agricultural zones while covering vast areas, a Ruger #1 would be fine as the game is usually on full alert eyeballing the pickup as it comes to a halt and Joe Hunter bails out to take a shot.
