Colt M4??

We have also ordered these guns along with numerous other dealers. We hope for the best (delivery...non-restricted) but always expect the worst. Phil.

Any rough idea of pricing? Can we expect another PX-4 fiasco (cheap as dirt State-side, but over double the MSRP in Canuckistan)?

I have a strong feeling these will be just like that... Poor value for the moneys in Canada. :(

OPricing has been posted repeatedly on several of these threads. It will start about $700.

Wasn't the same thing said of the CX-4/PX-4 when they were first introduced? ;):p

But in all serious, if this is non-restricted, these things will go like little hotcakes. Hell, even the M305's from Marstar wouldn't compare! :D

Not to my knowledge. People may have speculated on prices, but no dealers posted retail prices before the guns were available from the distributor.

The S&W 15-22 looks good too, I think I would go with that, and it costs $500 USD. If they end up costing between $600 - $700 CD, thats still cheaper than buying a 10-22 and makeing it look like an AR.

An 8.5" Grizzly for a 16" barrel or a 12.5" Grizzly for a 20" barrel under that would make it perfect IMO.

If its reliable I may pick one up and a Grizzly.

I highly doubt this will be built well enough that you could use the masterkey system to mount a 12ga 870 underbarrel. haha. That would be one very cool do-all bush gun though.

How this gun could be non-restricted with a 30 rounds magazine ??

or it's gonna be a 30/10 magazine... ? what's the deal ? not sure about .22 magazine restriction

A couple?!?! Lightweight...
:D

I just wanted to be considerate to make sure everyone gets a chance to have more than one magazine. ;) Once the magazines become more widely available I'll move out of the flyweight/lightweight class........yeah, yeah that's my story and I'm sticking to it.:p

This rifle will be awesome for speed steel matches. Last year I went to quite a few, but shot pistol each time since I didn't have a .22lr rifle. While I was there though they were limiting guys to 10rds in each mag because some of the rifles the guys used only had 10rd mags and they wanted to be fair to everyone. If a bunch of guys show up with these then they might have to change the rules a bit, or at least make another class.

All in all I think a minimum of 5 mags would be ok to start with. Hopefully the dealers will order enough to go around. They might have to implement a max amount if things get crazy though. I can see these things flying off the shelves... mags too.

Does anybody have a guess as to how many will be sold in the first month? Maybe we can have a contest to see who has the best guess.

Everybody is wondering about bringing them in, but seems like everyones forgotten, Colt Canada has a pretty big factory in Kitchener Ontario. I wonder if they will be producing them there, maybe I could go knock on their door and ask ;)

They will apparently be produced in Germany by Walther.

See the Umarex USA press release, here: http://www.umarexusa.com/PressReleases/Colt22%20Tactical%20PR_UmarexUSA.pdf

Either way, I would rather have this: http://www.tactical-life.com/online/products/smith-wessons-mp15-22-rifle/?hp=products_title

Oh, happy days!
To walk around the bush with an AR again! Even if it is a rimfire.
I'm so getting one of these!

M16s set the world standard for weapons systems in its class. The new Colt .22 Tactical Rimfire M16 is no
exception. A replica of Colt’s M16A4,

I am suprised this is even beeing considered a non-res, In the read up they make it sound like it's a "copy" of the M16.. They don't make it sound like an whole new platform with all non interchangable parts. Remember who is deciding the classification... My money says ither restricted or Prohib just because they call it a .22 cal M16..

Not being an expert in AR's, I thought part of the reason AR's are restricted aside from ones with restricted barrel lengths was the charging handle in the back and how the rifle ejects spent casings, which is why the AR-180B for example with a non-restricted barrel is a "non-restricted rifle." I also thought the other reason an AR is restricted is because you can interchange components required to make the rifle function from other AR's, where again you "cannot" do that with an AR180B. (Armalite indicates the "upper" or "lower" of an AR180B cannot go on another AR and vice versa).

With that being said, I have not seen the "other side" of this .22 AR in a picture anywhere and other than the picture of the charging handle already seen from the other side (it could simply be a fake for example) it could be a completely different design than a standard AR. However that's only accurate if my assumption on the reasons an AR is restricted are accurate as stated above.

Anyone seen a picture of the other side of this .22 AR?
