You may be snookered regardless of what the CPFO says. They have no legal jurisdiction to do what he said. You get it in writing? Fighting it will cost you close to 6 figures.

There's a few things that don't add up here.

Even if you are eligible for 12.5 there is next to nothing available...and even then you can't shoot it. I'm 12.5 myself, and I think that there are way more better, more modern black rifles available now than the "mid-90s and earlier" stuff that was prohib'ed, unless you want a Cold War-era wallhanger for old-time's sake (and by wallhanger I mean locked in the safe since you can't shoot them). You're way better off with a restricted or non-restricted rifle you can actually shoot.
have insurance replace the firearm like they offered, very simple solutionGuys i'm kind of in a wierd situation. Heres the break down...
Late 80's FAC
purchased NR ak
New firearms act grand fathers me into 12.5
Didnt bother taking courses satified with what I owned and settled with POL
Busy with life
2007 break in and rifles stolen including ak
My POL expires 2015 12.5 still registered under my name
Take courses get my rpal but missing 12.5.....i call cfo nb they said they would fix it
BC cfo calls me and says he cant give me a full 12.5 only a possesion only 12.5 bla bla bla insurance actually owns the 12.5 now
but will acccomadate me in finding a replacement 12.5 one only.
Kind of odd but I think but i'm not all that dissapionted
So I'm just thinking about what to buy, there might be a fight here to get my 12.5 full status, but I didnt want to stir the hornets nest, or should I?
Thanks be gentle This is my second post. Ha

Yeah, I missed that--sorry, OP. Maybe pick up a Ishapore FN for a couple hundred bucks to keep your 12.5 if you need something quick to keep the status--there are a bunch out there, a WTB would probably scare one up.Good post and completely true. Sadly.
The OP wants to hang on to his 12(5) status though which is understandable.
Just watch the 12(x) forum till something tickles your fancy.
then why is he saying they would in his post?Except insurance likely paid him out sometime during the last 7 years. Meaning they replaced it with cash. Why an insurance company would keep a claim open for 7 years is beyond me. Replace it, or pay it out and close the file. Insurance 101.
then why is he saying they would in his post?
?Exactly.
kind of thinking the same thing, If I don't take advantage of his offer I may never get that class back - as I technically don't currently own a 12.5 but need to in order to keep my 12.5
just checking the act and as I interpret, all 12.5 rifles would be basically safe queens unless I can get a att to an approved range to use them. Anyone know if this can be done in BC?
I used to go to the barnet range to shoot my ak as NR
Can a 12(5) be negotiated to a 12(6) instead? Don't know if that can be done at all. At least there are a bunch of 12(6) guns out there AND you can actually use them AND you get to keep a12(x) status. ...if it can be done!???
