Coolest prohibited oic 12.5 firearm

Even if you are eligible for 12.5 there is next to nothing available...and even then you can't shoot it. I'm 12.5 myself, and I think that there are way more better, more modern black rifles available now than the "mid-90s and earlier" stuff that was prohib'ed, unless you want a Cold War-era wallhanger for old-time's sake (and by wallhanger I mean locked in the safe since you can't shoot them). You're way better off with a restricted or non-restricted rifle you can actually shoot.

This.
Honestly, if I could have my AK and FN back I would in a heartbeat.
They probably wouldn't get much use, but whatever.
Getting them back so they sit at the back of the safe?
Meh, I don't think so.

Just more reasons and reminders why our laws suck the left hind tit

Good for you to have the 12.5. I also have it. Bad for you and me that we can't shoot them. One of mine is a FN FAL. Marstar, from time to time, has 12.5 rifles for sale. Recently, they have had some semi AKs for sale, as well as FNs. The only drawback to the AKs is that they are in .223. I would probably buy one if they were in 7.62x39. I know we can't shoot them, but it's more to my liking in that caliber. More authentic I guess. But that's just me. Also, if it were me in your position, I would buy something 12.5 asap and get your prohib class settled while you can.

What is a Non-restricted AK? I am not all that up to date on the gun control history in Canada. When did the NR/R/Prohib classes get instituted? When did the AK become prohib? Did the old NR Ak's still have to comply with the 18.5 inch barrels?
Thanks to anyone who could answer these questions, it is quite confusing.

my norcs have the longer barrel. i also have an hk93 that had the barrel extended to 18.5. because they are still varients they are prohib. varients is a dirty word.

92 AKs went restricted, 95 prohibited, As for the question of a nice 12.5 thats no easy answer, 1st choice is between a Gaili vs hk94, Next being the israeli FN vs the thompson. The Galili based on AK improvements and in 308

At least some of you can own a 12.X
I would love to have an FN FAL in my collection, but cannot do so
My parents were very anti-gun when I was living under their roof in the 90's, so no FAC or firearms for me then
Not owning a firearm, grandfathering was out of the question after Kimmie Gimme and Rockhead's crazed legislation became law
I got my restricted and non-restricted PAL after moving out and joining the CF, but that won't help me acquire a prohib
No criminal record, too bad can't own a prohib
Oh you have military service, too bad not enough to own a prohib
Got a valid restricted and non-restricted PAL do you, that's not enough either
It seems like my birthdate really worked against me, not my personal conduct or employment
What a screwed up corrupt bunch of yahoos that wrote those laws, and continue to voice their support for them
I continue to financially support pro firearms orgs in this country, in the hopes that we can get these convoluted laws eliminated
Once that happens, all firearms owners can enjoy the history behind this class of firearms, and perhaps even try them at a range

That's a great idea: nominally expensive, because they are rare; legally non restricted; and, most importantly, A LEGAL AKM!

As such, it would replace what you lost, with what is the same and legal on crown land...

It really is the best alternative: one could argue you simply want the same thing: an AKM, 12.+ status not important.
