Counterfeit Leupold Scopes

My friend bought about half a dozen of them while in China sometime ago...they seem to have been working well on his .22s and on an M14. Luck of the draw maybe?

Work well at a tasco/fitco level maybe. Put one beside a real leupold and there's no comparison. The e/w clicks are ####, the glass is merely ok.

The performance of real optics comes in low light, long range, harsh weather etc. That is when the scope will fail. If your a range guy, no issue, just put it back in the case and go home. If you use it for hunting or competition or real world use, that is not usually an option. The question will be when will it fail, not if...

Quality

So, if China can knock-off a Leupold scope, and you can not tell the difference with regards to quality, then, what does that say about the quality of Leupold Scopes made now-day???

Those are for Replica airsoft, pretty like a replica Rem700 airsoft.
The airsoft community have their "Replica" airsoft version like the M16, AK47, SIG 556 ... and that replica line extends to the scopes. Don't take it too serious.

Just make sure you are buying from a authroized dealer.

I had one here that a customer wanted put on an AR build I was doing for him. I did so, took it to the range on a cold day to zero/test fire the rifle. The adjustments stopped working on the second string, totally let go, turning the turrets did nothing but make clicks, the POI would not change.

As I had driven 50km each way and trudged in through the snow ONLY to do the test fire, it was all I could do to not fire the whole lot into the woods.

Save your money and put it towards a real scope. How much does a Bushnell 3200 3x9 or 10X cost? Not much more I'd reckon.

Junk from China

Quick check on eBAY shows some cheesey looking Bushnell knock-offs also. Sellers location:China should be an obvious clue. What they say about "a fool and his money..." applies well here.
China=crap!

Cheers
Geoff

They are far from the quality of a Leupold scope. I can bet the price of a new Leupold that you won't use one for 40 years, drop it into a lake, recover it, send it back to Leupold for repair and get a NEW ONE for free!

Bought an abused 6X Leupold at a garage sale some idiot twisted off both turrets for $40.Sent it Leupold and had a totally reconditioned scope in my hand in two weeks! No Charge!.......................Harold

Well maybe it's because youre intellectually challenged. How would you feel, if you buy a pre-64 Winchester mod 70 in 308 win, Leopold scope included.

You pay the guy and with a song in your heart set off to the shooting range, with Lapua match ammo, capable of achieving 1/2 moa in most rifles. After your first 3 shot group you find the holes +- 6 inches apart with no resemblance of a grouping whatsoever. You decide it must be the scope and when removing it you see "made in china" in fineprint on the bottomside!

Thats what I have against chinese crap! If you have a problem with that, drink your pills and bark at the moon.

I have one of the 3.5-10 knockoffs on a rimfire, and it works just fine there. I would not normally even try one, but it arrived with another purchase, so I reasoned, why not put it on a 22 and see how it works. It adjusts like it should, and while not anywhere near Leupold quality, it is OK for a casual shooter. In Competition, the Real Leupolds come with me. Regards, Eagleye

I once got a fake Leupold from China.
When I tried to adjust the windage, the whole thing instantly exploded destroying a nearby propane plant.

Never again.
