CPC Leadership

MacKay, warts and all, is the only electable candidate, the only one with a remote chance of becoming PM. National name recognition, looks good on camera, experienced at high level of government. None of the other candidates have any of that.

Lewis, being socially conservative - anti abortion, would allow or contest anti conversion thereapy? in this day and age, are you ####ing crazy to even have her in the race? That's an easy low seat count loss. Just the reality of the day, but that seems to carry no traction with a lot around here.

This. The CPC needs to stop getting butthurt about what consenting adults do with their genitalia. It is holding them back.

Honestly I think Lewis is a mistake unless she gets a little more progressive. She is not going to do well with womens rights or the LGBT voters, just because she’s a person of color from Toronto dose not make her a silver bullet. She leans too far to the right to be palatable to soy boy pussies. O’tool is most like minded with my personal views but I agree he is in a demographic that for what ever reason people hate on these days, Peter MacKay May be a bit of a cuck but at this point he’s most likely to win a federal election.

Beware and look up the article mackay wrote before advocating for elimination of assault rifles. article was posted in one of the forums yesterday

I donated to Leslyn Lewis' campaign and bought a membership to the CPC so that I can vote for her in the leadership's race. Liberals and left wing medias wouldn't be able to attack her since she is a black woman but she seems a very intelligent and level headed woman. I'd have a person like her as a Premier in a heartbeat.

I've been an O'Toole Supporter since before the last leader was chosen. But I have lately been leaning a little towards voting for Lewis. This change is partly because she is more genuine (IMHO). I also like how concisely she speaks. Its hard to disagree with her. O'Toole has the best of intentions. But he talks a lot and wanders from what his message should be sometimes. His heart certainly is in the right place though. Either one would be a good choice.

I haven't liked Peter McKay for as long as I can remember.

This pretty much sums it up.

But can you trust him? He has flip flopped on the firearms issue in the past. I fear he will turn his back on us if the move suits his needs or agenda.

I think we need to be pragmatic this time around. Don't pick the leader you want. Pick the leader with the best chance to beat Trudeau. I think (hope maybe?) we can all agree a CPC government led by any of the leadership candidates would be preferable to another Trudeau government.

FFS, she’s a environmental nut job. Do some research before voting for greta 20/20. Our only hope for Canada is the PPC, and I voted CPC last election. The cons won’t even stand behind D. Sloan for calling it like it is.

Lol...same crap again....sure that will help Liberals to win again ! geeee...

Why is her reason as person and ethics contingent on being paraded around like some side show? honestly asking.

Because people no longer believe in a split between professional and personal lives. You have to live the life. If you're not pro choice (the whole concept of pro choice is you allow others a choice even if you disagree) you're toast. You can and are allowed to be against abortion but not anti choice...

As well, as it's expected as a leader of all people of the nation to parade when they had to fight for their rights to be treated as equals... Anything less and you create doubt in young urban voters. Trumps wins while marginal he had some valid and invalid points. You need the middle voters.. Talking about race and gender cards is exactly what's holding the CPC back. Anyonw can lead when they actually believe in it's values.. the "non of my businesses" style doesn't work anymore because no one believes politicians and those in authority.

Maybe she will make it, but from an urban riding heavy in lgqbt area, you won't have a shot in the dark against social media wizards when you're leading on hate in a progressive country like Canada. CPC needs to catch up to 2015 and be conservative. Even environmental programs are a joke.... How about a right to repair? A lemon law to reduce the waste ... Support small bio friendly businesses. Made in Canada manufacturing. Easy wins...

Edit: I'm in my 30s and don't see many points why an urban or young person would vote CPC. It should be conservative way of doing things, not just abandoning what's happening in the world.

So as long as you're a member of the CPC party by the 14th you'll be able to vote for your candidate of choice? When is the vote for that?

Edit: With a little more research, I've found it looks to be by mail this August.

I agree wholeheartedly. It's definitely time for a black female prime minister. Her appreciation for what it means to be Canadian and our values seems genuine. What a change it would make to actually feel respected by our government.

I must hand it to the PPC, they did a great job luring all the crackpots out of the CPC. Now if the CPC could only get rid of the red torys like Mackay, then we'll finally have a real conservative party.

I have been a CPC (originally Reform) member for a long time and heavily involved.
Haven't decided yet.

Charisma and confidence is the key

I like what I hear from Lewis, not seen her in action, how quick she can think when dealing with a professional drama teacher and a fake media.
Is there a dedicated team in place to carry the candidate country wide?
Are current MPs behind the candidate?

With the lock-down this process of electing a leader is going to be tough.
Face to face debate of the prospective leaders is key, hope it happens.

Considering that we should have had already the budget non confidence vote on what could have been a GO button for an election this fall.
Now he saying he'll do a budget when this is all over? ????? what in 2 years?

What that lack in integrity they make up for in slippery.

I think women and visible minorities would love to vote the first Black Woman as PM. Its only white progressives that are overly consumed by racist bs. Lots of people are religious and trust moral people even if they do not believe in it. Also I have to add that it is only the Liberal Propaganda Machine that is pretending that Harper was a monster. He never once brought up abortion or tried to prevent it. He just believed that everyone that was in his party deserved a voice because they were duly elected representatives of their ridings. It is the Liberals that believe that their members must not represent their constituents and must adhere to JT and the Death Eaters.. I meant Privy Council directives.

I like Lewis. She is educated and a Lawyer so she understands the law and how to critically think through situations. She will be able to work both sides of a problem because that's what Lawyers are trained to do.

If Conservatives want to show the rest of Canada that they are not Racists, than making Lewis our CPC leader will dispel that idea for good. They will still call us homophobes but they will look like idiots and racists themselves doing it.

I am am not a social conservative, but I am voting for Lewis.

edit: I like O'Toole better than McKay but he does look a lot like Ford and that will be a problem for a lot of centrists. People are biased by looks and appearance.

FYI I voted for Ford and he has been abused sorely by the media and leftists, but it is what it is.

I am also going to be 100% a one issue voter now. Gun Rights are my only concern.

Everyone loves Ford right now, hes absolutely killing it in the polls.

The only hope is that Ford vacates his post and runs for the CPC leadership.
