Crappy cerakoting job

I've done several Cerakote jobs and there is several more issues than mentioned.

The internals looked like they were probably soaked in acetone then removed and not coated taking away any grease leading to the surface rust. If they were coated there would not be rust. They just coated the parts you can see.

they did not soak it long enough and gassed off the acetone it leads to poor adhesion on the breach block.

They coated the face of the breach block. It's almost as important to know what not to coat than what to coat when doing Cerakote. Hopefully they never baked with your springs and firing pin fitted.

Sand everywhere means they never blew the parts after soaking. Sand in your barrel is a good sign they never blanked of the barrel ends prior to sandblasting.

As for removing a crappy Cerakote job the only way is to re sand blast and start again.

^^ This.
Proper procedure in any dispute with any company is to "talk to them - give them an opportunity to make it right". If you're still not satisfied, then you have a right to name names but not before.

I don't know. There's definitely such a thing as ####ing up so badly that they don't deserve a second chance. Given how shoddy this job was I'd be hesitant to let them touch the gun a second time, especially in light of the possibility that parts were changed or heat sensitive parts may have been baked.

I agree. I simply wouldn't trust a company like that ever again. What if it's sent back and the work is still crappy?
The OP has every right to name and shame a company that would do such garbage work.

I do both Cerakote and Gunkote .Cerakote has an aggressive marketing program but I prefer Gunkote it goes on much thinner than Cerakote and does not have the ceramic particles in the finish that make moving parts feel rough. Both products are 9PH hardness so if applied properly they are equal.Having said that it is evident that the prep on the Ruger was not good .That is obvious.Cerakote is fine on the exterior but because of the thicker application and the ceramic grit it can be problematic, you actually have to strain the larger pieces of grit out of the product before application. If you skip that step it is really gritty on moving parts.
This is clearly sloppy workmanship no matter what the product

Some screwup are too big to dismiss as having "an off day."

If I went to a mechanic to get some engine work done and he was careless enough to leave one of his sockets in my intake manifold, then he would not get a chance to "make it right".

If I went in for surgery and the doctor stitched me up with a unplanned foreign object in my torso, I would not give him the chance to "make it right"

A competent, first-time, hobbyist, wanna-be-gunsmith, could have done better work than this.

Anyone who does refinishing -as their primary source of income -should have done better prep work than this.

If you have a borescope, then check the barrel to see if they at least had the common sense to use plugs before sandblasting.

Give them the chance to get your dollars back and go to someone else...if they refuse to give your money back, burn them on the forum!

^^^ this, 1000% this!!

I agree that you should NOT give the F-up another chance to F-it. They should give you a refund and then you deal with another company. AND you should OUT the F-up so this doesn't continue. "Make it right" for a TOTAL F-UP should NOT include a "Do-over"!

Seriously, a job this s#!tty is deserving of names being named regardless of course of action taken to try and give them a chance. Doing the job right the first time was their chance. This is not a minor mistake that can be rectified easily.
