I was offered a refund or send it back at their expense. I took the refund. Now see if I get it.

As for outing this outfit. I always worry about liability in this day and age.

I would have taken a full refund also. You never get a second chance at making a first impression. That business should be ashamed sending out such shoddy workmanship. If they don't pony up the dough and you paid by CC, contact your CC provider and ask for a charge back. Better luck going forward.

First patch out of the barrel.

....mmm yeah nevermind the borescope recommendation from my previous post... its pretty evident that they bathed it acetone and/or sandblasted it without plugs in the barrel.
Almost looks like I can see the aluminum media right there on the patch!

Almost fainted just now....

I've used a local guy not far from where I live... trust his work and will probably use him again in the future.

I'll PM you with his company name as well as ask who it was that Royally Defecated the Bed on your Dad's gun!

As much as I think there's nothing wrong with simply saying "look at the work so and so did" I will be respectful of your concerns and stop asking you to out them. Given the circumstances you've been about as respectful towards them (no trash talk in your posts etc..) as anyone could have been.

Hopefully you have no problems with getting your reimbursement and it all works out in the end.

You are not really 'outing' them...just stating facts backed up with pictures... and they agreed to refund you... that's a plus on their side.

They did refund me. Which is a plus. I will just say it's about 80km north west of Toronto. As is isn't fair to the guys who do good work to be wondering if it was them.

Make sure you do your research. As I have found not all are created equal.

Perhaps someone was having a bad day or whatever. I know it happens. Just makes for 2 that are disappointed in the end.

i have ceracoated a few rifle for myself and friends. i would be mortified to give someone a botched job like that. ceracote is not difficult if you know how to spray. looks like they didn't even do a proper disassembly or even cleaning. i hope that barrel, trigger or crown isn't to badly damaged. grit blasting can cause a lot of damage if done without care.

Respect! That said the refund might not be enough to get that gun back to where it was, that much rust in the barrel and the swapped parts might cost you more than you got back… good luck and keep us posted when the gun is back in working order!

A refund is not fair. If you need to re do It will not be the same as if done right first time. Plus time and trouble. A refund lets them off lightly.

I felt sick just reading that post, can’t believe somebody would do/send a botch job like that expecting the client to accept it, they should find another field of work. Op i hope you get to have the job done correctly since its your dad rifle.
