Critique and comment on our Ruger 10/22 stock (goes into prototypeing this week!)

You know... I was just remembering the EVO stock I had. I remember needing a riser for it because there was no drop at the comb, just like on this design. The design as it is, looks awesome, but I dont think it will be comfortable to shoot. The top of the chassis is higher than the top of the stock receiver was, but the butt is also much higher, straight in line with the top of the chassis.

I dont know how precise this drawing is, but I wonder if you dont need to either lower the butt or raise the top about a half to 3/4"

BSC Mk4 with sliding stock is VERY NICE! :D:dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

The sliding stock will likely be low enough to allow the use of iron sights without a riser.

When will they be available? :)

great point. I kept the buttstock pretty much along the same plane as the barrel (took cues from the ar15), and the irons arent really to scale (shorter than normal, i'd wager). However, that is a very easy thing to change, and i've got some ideas to make it adjustable.

Thanks! I couldn't peg a date, but expect to see the prototype come to fruition soon.

I would use a red dot or scope on it. The sights would be too low unless you used a mp5 stock that sloped more downward hehe. The Tapco T6 has 2 different stocks, one straight for scope and one that slopes downward for sights. The slider is lower, better for sights :)

Opinions on the ports? I think they suit the stock well...

Min length, 11" barrel

Factory 18.5" barrel

It's starting to look a bit HK MP7 ish. Which isn't a bad thing. :D

By the way this in the Remington 597 would no doubt be a real hit since there are very few mods out for the Remington and the action is cheaper to buy. Just a thought. Way less competition. Just went back and reread some of the thread. Looks like Gravyboat already mentioned that.

The ports look good. The buttstock is fine where it is, the iron sights are at the same height as on the AR-15, if they were done to scale on the picture.
Instead of making a collapsible stock of your own, can you instead make a adapter to use a already existing stock, like the MP5 collapsible stock, or others.

Haha yeah i was thinking that myself.

I like the ports. Getting better all the time! :D:rockOn::dancingbanana:

adapters are a possibility for sure.

Really like how it is coming along.
Any idea when you will have something "real" we can have a look at?

I'm just putting the final touches on the programming right now... Might have the main body done for later tonight. Dont hold me to that htought haha, i'm tired as hell :p

Wow! I really like the full lenght top rail...
Keep up the good work, it might just be a good enough incentive to add another 10/22 to the collection.

Thanks man, Thats what i like to hear haha

I would really like to see these in person or large detailed photos when done. How serious are you about an M14 one for the future?? I have an M14 and 10/22 so I would like to get one for each!!! Awesome work, great idea to post here to get feedback from the masses.

Thanks!

I'm pretty serious about the M14 stock, but like i mentioned earlier in the thread, this 10/22 stock is going to tell me a lot about the feasibility of mfg'ing these parts at a reasonable cost.

I'll definitely be documenting the build, and I'll have plenty of pics of the finished product.

I should have more progress pic's up tonight..

Bender... you're an inspiration and a bringer of light in these dark times. We need more guys like you to bring us accessories that turn our cheap boring .22 plinkers into black semi-auto SMGs.

I salute you! Please keep us posted about the progress & final pricing of this fine idea!
