I much prefer the XCR ergos over the AR. The benefits of having one rifle is familiarity.
Does this Tavor come in 308?
I wish 1 day I can afford to have this problem.
Well... I'll throw another choice into the mix: ACR with (Herron) non-restricted barrel.
I love turning gophers into pink mist with my ACR. The xcr was good at it too. The tavor wasn't for me.
I dunno. I bought it from a cgner and it was already NR. It was one of the questar ones and I recall he had some issues with it at first. He worked them out. The thing is a tack driver though.
I bought it from him for 3200$ back in February i believe.
Interesting idea - I recall you mentioning it before (or perhaps it was another member).
I wonder what the total cost of a the new ACR + new barrel + labour-gunsmitting + shipping and whatever other miscellaneous costs?
Considering the cost of a new ACR is $3,000, it's already up there with the more expensive Swiss. There's still some differences between the two, but $$ its pretty darn close.
Rumour has it we're supposed to see some factory NR ACRs sometime yet this year. Fingers crossed...
Hopefully without the barrel change capability to lighten them up. I would probably buy one if that were the case.
Realistically, it will probably run you $3,600-ish. But you'll also be getting a custom match barrel - so it will probably outshoot anything else (including a Swiss Arms). Rumour has it we're supposed to see some factory NR ACRs sometime yet this year. Fingers crossed...
$3,600ish, all-included, at my door, taxes-in - that's not bad at all.
There's only four and half months left to the year, so here's to hoping those rumors do come true.
Any idea who would import that said NR ACRs (if not by a reseller that is)?..just to know who to keep an eye on!
B
Whoever was carrying the restricted ones, I imagine. Offhand I don't have a list, but SFRC and possibly a few others?
Well... I'll throw another choice into the mix: ACR with (Herron) non-restricted barrel. So this is what you have in the non-restricted/half-decent black rifle category (also cheapest to most expensive): XCR-L, Tavor, ACR and Swiss Arms.
Blaxsun - I was just thinking...let's throw the H&K SL8 in the mix as well, as it gets (quite) rarely mentioned in these which "NR black rifle" threads.
Did a heck of a conversion by modifying his thumbhole stock to a pistol grip. Now the rifle is cool. Before it was ok. I personally don't have the skill to convert the stock. The costs otherwise are prohibitive for that rifle.
