whats the fix to keep the ejection port door from not staying closed ?
Not sure about all but on the strike industries poly one there is a set screw under the ball detent, push the ball down with a small flathead until you can engage the slots and turn it counterclockwise and the ball will sit higher and catch in the indent on the receiver. Adjust to how stiff you like it. Hope this helps!

Got my receiver yesterday so I threw this together today .

Did you just buy the receiver set and gather up the required parts? Or did you have a pile of pieces already? This is what I'd like to build but need to learn more (ie: what length barrel to buy to fit as it should with the triangular handguard and front sight/gasblock assembly)

You'll need a 20" barrel with a rifle length gas system and a milspec front sight base to be able to use. For a A1 clone you'll want a pencil profile barrel

Absolute bare minimum to fit a set of rifle length hand guards: any length barrel with rifle length gas port, *any FSB with gas block journal diameter same as barrel*, triangle hand guard cap sized for gas block journal diameter, mil spec barrel nut, slip ring, weld spring, snap ring.

*If your FSB is installed with pins your barrel will need to be milled for the same type of pins, taper or straight, and the pins themselves are also required.

If the FSB is already drilled, making "half holes" in the barrel is a pain, both to create the grooves and to get the FSB vertical.
Far easier to use a clamp on or set screw FSB.
