Crusader Arms Crypto

I am sure the FRT/Classification sections of the SFSS are fully aware of this rifle. You can be sure that a FRT entry for the rifle has been prepared. Just matter of tie before it is made public in the FRT.

I hope so. I mean the main business for Crusader is probably selling receivers and magazines for obvious reasons. But I won't buy one unless it has a FRT.

It’ll get an FRT if someone builds a restricted version.

As it’s not being imported, and meets the C21 criteria, there is no need to apply for an FRT.
The FRT is a catalogue. FRT entries are created when the the FRT/Classification sections of the SFSS become aware of a firearm.
It is not a matter of applying for a FRT number. If a firearm is being imported, the catalogue description for the FRT entry is created, and a FRT number assigned. It is the classification that is required for importation, which is reflected in the FRT entry.
If someone assembles a short barreled version, application to register must be made. The system cannot deal with a firearm that does not have a FRT entry. A FRT entry will be created with a number. It will be something like 123456 - 2, the -2 being for the short barreled version. The entry will list the classification, which would be restricted if the parent rifle is deemed to be non-restricted. If the parent rifle is deemed to be prohibited, then the short barreled version will be as well.
It is just a matter of time before a FRT entry for the Crypto is published.

Took mine to the range today put 120 rounds thru. Magazines won't seat on closed bolt has a few failure to feed on top round. Once the first one is in seems to run fine no light strikes or ejection problems. The magazines a very flexible especially the feed lips. The range I went to said they had someone in with a modified crypto taking stanag mags and wouldn't allow it.

FRT or not it really does not matter. The RCMP will do whatever they want whenever they want. Exact same with the liberals if they created a new OIC. It’s just a matter of time enjoy the cope black rifles while you can.

The magazines have different problems according to a youtube review. The feed lips are too soft plus the magazines are stacked wrong (the unused pointing back, so the rounds pop out of the unused mag when shooting). At my range nobody would care or notice if the magwell is dremeled out.

Definitely some magazine issues. Do you get that same failure to feed on the first round with all 6 of your magazines?

Why would the range care? Nothing illegal about filing or dremeling the mag well.

If a person is cautious, a person would not buy one unless it has a published non-restricted classification.
In a normal world, the cautious thing to do - would be to buy a rifle conforming to the existing ‘gun-owner hating’ governments restrictive legislation.

This is clown country tho, so you might be right.

To anyone wondering about shipping times from Crusader, I purchased a receiver set on the 10th of September, and was just told that they won't be shipping things out for another 14-21 days due to part delays at the border. They are waiting on the receiver pins
This really sucks, I bought from True North Arms and they shipped the next day. Hopefully will get it next wednesday.

Mine is supposed to arrive on Tuesday. I will try to make some posts on how good or bad the rifle is. I mean for my purposes I wanted a very light weight semi auto 223. Specifically for coyote control around farm animals. If they are being predators. For my purposes it’s great even if it has weird 5 round magazines

Having been one of the first to own the crypto, I think it’ll serve you well for the purpose you need.

So long as the magazine with five rounds has been inserted, the magwell keeps the magazine from over expanding.

What range?

Would it be possible to cut the two magazine halves apart, and make a printed reversed coupler, like the way you can flip Cross Mags around, to prevent rounds in the lower magazine from shifting in firing? If the decoupled mags could still be functional, it might be useful for bench/prone shooting.

Stand alone 5/5 magazines that could be coupled if desired might be a better idea than a factory coupled double ender that cannot be used as a monopod. Either couple two magazines, or a single with an extension.
