Crusader Arms Templar quality control issues and response

I seriously hope that isn't serious...

I would hold off until their warranty practices are known. Out of two owners in this thread both are sending them back.

Ya. Wait until 2nd generation if you don't have the funding and time to wait for warranty work right out of the gate. We will see the condition we get our rifles back in. I really hope the company takes the information shared in this and implements it into production.

I tried to get a refund... unable to, they say they are made to order. that id probably get more if I sell on the used market because they are in demand... Phoenix indoor range in Edmonton has a ACR stock mil spec trigger for $1999.95.

Doesn't it even say on their website they will refund if purchased directly from them? I would honestly suggest making a thread and sharing your purchasing process/experience and the e-mails about receiving a refund.

No manual yet. Just waiting on an e-mail back. Will probably just receive a tracking number in a few weeks. Not sure what the company policy is for answering service e-mails.

There is no manual. I am also in Jaycorbetts boat and waiting on warranty work now. I got to ~550 total out of 1000 rounds so the full 1000 round review might have to wait, depends how repair goes. I am not posting more information until I hear from the company and get a solution; there are some issues and I want to give them a fair chance to fix it beforehand in case mine is a lemon.

I thought about ordering one of these, emailed them about a manual or parts breakdown just to see what the internals were like and when they told me they didn't have any documentation on the rifle and linked me to a video with no information in it I made up my mind. Between the lack of detail on the rifle and the cringey branding I can't take these guys seriously.

You sir, made a wise decision.

i honestly can't tell any of these guys apart; there's crusaders, templars, sentinels - all excuses for the owner to wear his metal hat. two different companies called spectre. ws-mcr and wx-mcr. two generations of wk180. an incestuous cesspool and a crapshoot re parts interchangeability. i want to buy canadian, but these clowns are not making it easy.

How long have you been waiting for them to ship it ?

Kodiak Defence

- Made the original WK180, then upgraded it to the Gen 2, this is a well known gun that people like, where they have issues they mostly get resolved quickly, the warranty is good

Wolverine supplies

- Originally worked with KD, divorced them, made the WS-MCR, Spectre made the lowers for Wolverine but X-treme then also made some for them. Hence WS & WX MCRs
- MCR is for the most part like the WK, it had it's issues but it's a known quantity and reasonably reliable, production seems to be limited these days though, probably because crusader arms/spectre are focusing on themselves

Crusader Arms
- weird company that uses products marked as made by Spectre, creates cringe named rifles, QC questionable

My advice, buy the WK180 Gen 2 because there is far more stability of production, support, aftermarket parts and more

I had a Templar on preorder and decided to refund it. Went with the SL8 for now, which I'm actually loving. Who knows, maybe I'll still pick a Templar up in the future but based on the conversations in here, I can wait.

hah yes, i knew most of that (i've got an rwa upper on a sbi lower in 6.5 grendel - talk about a chinese finger trap of compatibility) just wanted to rant about the foolishness of it all.

Until we hear back how people are treated in this thread, but given its taking time for feedback, I would say Crusader QC and customer service are in the teething stage; its to early to give them a permanent rating yet, since the Templar is such a new product, and Crusader is still young as a distributor.

Two more to come to the list

TSE Sterling
Make premium product, probably even more refined and stable then vaunted RWA upper. This comes at military grade cost (Bren 2/ Tavor range) without the pedigree. Sponsor/distributor has is not liked by some , with varying accounts of possibly problematic community behaviour, so this is not an option for some based on that.

Black Creek Labs
Questionable past on the name, but current owners have done great work on QC and customer service with their compact and long boi black MLOK bolt guns. Not available until December/January, but could be a good option. They use a distributor which has a bit of a bad rep on here, though. Would suggest diversifying on distributors. Maybe Wolverine would be interested, since Spectre has stepped down MCR production levels lately? The Siberian could provide a non-Kodiak alternative to the MCR for their goal of continuing to get as many NR semi-autos in peoples hands as they can at a reasonable cost, depending on its final price.

Wolverine can't produce guns as far as I am aware, that is why they are at the mercy of Spectre for WS-MCR production. They can get excited about the BCL product but that's it

I meant Wolverine may be interested in being an additional distributor, maybe for western Canada, for BCL products, not just selling them. North Sylvia has an ...interesting history with its distribution practices, so BCL may want to diversify distributors beyond them.

So I got an update from the service department. The rifle I sent back must have been in pretty rough shape internally, because they are sending me a new rifle next week. Said they received new machined parts and are assembling and shipping out next week.

So can you tell us what happened to cause such damage? It sounds almost as if the rifle self-destructed during normal operation....
