Has anyone with an 11.8" had issues?

Has anyone with a 7.5" put a break on it and still had issues? Just curious if anyone has tried one.

I have the 7.5" in .223 with factory brake from the last batch. Zero problems so far, about 100 rounds fired with AR magwell adapter and LAR mags. It's a loud bark and noticeable pressure blast from the brake when shooting off the bench so I tried it without the brake. Quieter but still no problems feeding.

mine was having a few issues with ejection both with and without brake, even ended up "pushing" a few bullets in as they would nose dive and slam against the breach, compressing the powder...gonna try it one more time and hope shes good

Is this just a problem with the shorter CSA VZ58 .223 rifles? Anyone have any problems with the 19" rifles?

I have one with the 19 inch barrel. no issues as of yet. I put about 2000 rounds through mine so far. I did try one box of mfs and the rifle does not like steel cased ammo. the rifle with AE black box will group between 2-3 inches at 100 meters. good enough for yotes. I have a posp scope mounted and a muzzle break. fun little rifle.

never had a problem with my 11.8", it does ding the brass when ejecting though, I mostly used AE black box .223, but tried one box of win white box .223 without issue

mine was a pre wolverine sale gun, worked better with original mags than AR adapter (last round hold was iffy with adapter and crappy Lar 10 round mag followers)

Looks a lot like mine! Except I used the MFS ammo with the shiney steel cases. They cycled better than norinco, but the gun has a such a week firing pin that most of the MFS ammo would not fire.

Here are a couple shots of norinco 223 in the gun.

There was a lot of this:

I bought one of the 11.75 versions in .223. I have had this same problem, but it is happening less. When I got the gun it was once every 5 rounds. Now it is down to 1 every 10 to 15.

There was a thread about a year ago that died off and the OP didn't reply. Several issues were discussed, including enlarging the gas port hole in the barrel (don't, didn't work for those that tried) to cutting the recoil spring down a coil (also not the best idea as it didn't always work, but did for some).

One solution I'm looking to try is a different muzzle brake to increase gas dwell time in the barrel. I'm running a krink style brake right now which does little except direct the gasses up or to the side at the muzzle.

My FTE were with AE 55gr and Norc 5.56. May have been some Winchester in their too but I can't recall.

edit: Found the thread...

My experience with my Vz58 11.8 in 223...

40 rounds of Winchester white box, no problem at all.
40 rounds of MFS ammo, 4 of them didnt fire, primer is too hard or the firing pin is too weak. The gun is much louder with these too, more gunpowder perhaps ?

well I refired after a good oiling today ...140 rounds down range (40 AE, 100 Norc) No issues whatsoever...seems to be a break in issue :)
