Very nice gun there, you and your smith can be proud.

I really want a NON-RESTRICTED .223 for varminting, let us know how it shoots, if you can get it under MOA, (heck get it under 1.5 MOA) I will many have to spend some coin.

...then you would be wrong.

The factory front and rear sights were removed, the factory upper receiver scope mount plate was removed, the rail on the upper receiver was trimmed and installed, the skeleton stock was modified to attach to the receiver and the entire rifle was refinished with baked-on Gun Kote.

Yes, you could say that there was a bit of gunsmithing involved...

I guess I just see it differently because there's nothing there that I or most people with basic mechanical skills and tools couldn't not do them selves.

Anyways, either way it matters not. Casey does good work and thats a fine hole maker.

Question, do the BUIS work through the optic? They look to be a bit high, perhaps in the upper 2/3'rds. Correct me if I am wrong.

...'most' people?

...'basic' skills and tools?

You're right, we certainly do see it differently. When you hold the finished rifle in your hands and experience it 'up close and personal', it's abundantly clear that an experienced craftsman with exactly the right tools and the needed knowledge did the work and 'got it right' ...less the 'trial and error' scratches, gaps and poor alignments that are often the hallmarks of casual do-it-yourself gun tinkering.

That's what I pay a gunsmith for ...and - as you alluded to - Casey deserves every dollar.

I'll know after spending some 'getting to know you' range time with the rifle this coming Thursday. When I initially purchased it, I did not 'Pass Go' or 'Collect $200' (or take it to the range) ...it went directly to Casey for the customization work.

Thursday should be fun...

Good stuff! It's a beautiful rifle and I hope you have lots of fun taking it on it's maiden voyage. :D

I get off my last nightshift at 7am tomorrow morning...

...after grabbing a few hours sleep, I plan on being at the range sometime later that same afternoon.

;)

Where did you pick up the 'Leupold' Prismatic 1x14mm scope? If you don't mind me asking:cool:. Also, it would be cool if you posted a review of the scope ....and the rifle (nice work!).
