CZ 457 MTR .22lr Range Report (Pictures)

I've got my trigger down to about 8 ounces with a new spring, factory spring is serious overkill for what it does. SK Rifle Match got the Royal into the 1/2 inch challenge within the first box of 50 rounds through the barrel.
The plan of attack now is a new stock from Australia as well as a new barrel built to my specs, from there a new canted scope base, nothing happens fast in the world of shooting in canada, so pictures in 6 months

If anyone is wondering the DIP aluminum mag well, extended mag release and mag spacer all work with the 457's. Installed mine. Area 419 bolt knob and arca rail next.

Good to know, thanks.

Ordered a YoDave trigger spring the other day. I reduced the trigger weight again but will be interesting to see how much more I can reduce the weight with the new spring.

Have the trigger adjusted to zero over travel and the slightest creep but still safe operation.

Got some groups in today at 91m (100yrds). Nothing amazing but that's what it was. Like i said earlier I haven't tried any other ammo yet other than this ( RWS RIFLE MATCH). Was a fairly good breeze today but most of the dispersion is vertical so i'm not going to say it was that. I think with the right ammo the MTR can do a lot better. We'll see!

The barrel is the issue! Install a Lilja and you’ll never quit smiling sold my MTR... buddy of mine spent the extra did the swap and is extremely happy.
But if your happy with results! That’s all that matters just wished they were a little hotter out of the box.
Keep shooting always good to see.

I was considering buying an MTR and did a lot of research . What I found out was that it is hit or miss if you will get one that shoots good. Yah sure one could always get a Lilja barrel for it but at around $700 to swap barrels why not just buy anschutz in the first place.

Chronograph some ammo out of my 16" barrel CZ 457 Varmint MTR. Hopefully this data will be of some help.

My thoughts too. The hit and miss thing just turned me off. Can't justify spending around $900 with tax/shipping to see if it will shoot.
It would be a great setup for those that want to swap barrels without need of gunsmiths though. Then, just sell me an action and I'll put on my own goodies.

Got mine new for $750. I think a lot of the complaints about the CZs are from guys who are expecting to shoot .1's @ 100m. Depends what you're looking for. You get what you pay for. I had a 455 before this and it shot about the same without ammo testing. There always the Vudoo:)

I wish an action only was an option, maybe it's time we push that idea to CZ USA

Your .985 group would translate into .442 at 50. It's pretty new, and new to you yet; a bit of time and more ammo.

Yea and good points. I'm not blaming CZ. I've owned several over the decades and still have the 452 in Varmint and Lux that I still love to this day and both shot cases of ammo.
Looked at the Vudoo. Love the 700 footprint, but now that I have a Rem 40X .22LR I've gone another direction. :)
I think once you try some other ammo your MTR will shoot great. You got a couple of good 100yds groups so far.
