Do you give up in every difficult situation life hands you? Go be a sheep somewhere else.
I was an owner of one of the very first batch of VZ58's (not brought in by Wolverine...2002? 2003? Can't recall), and even they were sketchy at the time being advertised as "new" and were clearly well "used"....with a blob of weld in the receiver. I can tell you the distributor at that time didn't give a #### at all about this and still claimed they were "newly made", but whatever. I'm glad to see Wolverine taking a stand on this.
Can anyone pm me with ideas to write? All I know is I'm pissed and I'm not great at writing or with words
Thanks Mr. Wolverine For the heads up. It's dealers like you that help the shooting sport. It's not about the money, It's about our wrights to own firearms. I hope More people in the shooting sport need to get involved with reclassification of firearms Not just the CSA owners. Everyone. Dealers as well Reclassification of firearms in the late
90's to the 12 prohip status Nobody cared because they didn't own one. It's happening again. What's next? WE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER I'm older now don't have 12 status. You young guys if you don't say something. you might be lucky to shoot air soft or play Call of Duty
Thanks Mr. Wolverine
I will send a email I do own CSA
I wrote in my email how I spent twice the value of the rifle in aftermarket parts in for it and that my loss went way past the coat of the rifle.
Dear Mr. Kallus,
As I'm sure you're aware, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP, who are responsible for administering Canada's firearms classification system) recently reviewed the status of CZ858 rifles that had, for the last several years, been legally imported into Canada by Wolverine Supplies. The RCMP had originally determined that all CZ858 imports were manufactured from semi-automatic-only receivers, thus classifying them as non-restricted or restricted based on barrel length. This classification allowed thousands of Canadians with the appropriate license to purchase CZ858s and enjoy using them for sport and recreation.
The RCMP recently determined that certain generations of the CZ858, primarily those manufactured on or before 2007, were built using receivers that had originally been milled for fully-automatic Vz58 rifles. Based on this information, the RCMP reclassified these CZ858 rifles as "converted automatics", which rendered them prohibited and illegal to own by individuals.
The decision to prohibit CZ858 rifles was retroactive, and affected thousands of existing CZ858 owners. These owners were offered no compensation and ordered to immediately destroy or surrender their rifles. Under pressure from law-abiding gun owners, the Canadian government granted a short-term amnesty that allows owners to keep, but not sell, their CZ858s. In some circumstances, CZ858 owners are still unable to use their CZ858s as they did prior to the reclassification.
The amnesty is set to expire on March 14, 2016, at which time owners of "prohibited" CZ858 rifles will again be ordered to destroy or surrender their rifles.
CZ has an excellent reputation for building quality firearms and supporting their consumers. The CZ858 rifles that are affected by the reclassification were purchased in good faith, and I'm asking you and CZ to stand behind your customers, both current and future, and support us in our desire to continue to use and enjoy CZ858 rifles in Canada.
Should the RCMP's reclassification of the converted automatic CZ858s stand, owners would be allowed to keep their rifles if they had an option to replace their converted automatic receiver with a semi-automatic receiver. Unfortunately, stripped semi-automatic CZ858 receivers are not readily available. I urge CZ to provide a low or no-cost option that would allow owners to replace their converted automatic receivers and/or barrelled actions with a semi-automatic receiver.
A commitment from CZ to help remedy this situation would remove any question as to whether CZ stands behind their product and customers, and would undoubtedly have a significant positive effect on CZ firearms sales in Canada.
Sincerely,
###
