CZ 958 Teaser Part 4 (NO THEY DON'T HAVE CHROME LINED BARRELS)

I'm not 100% up to date on the info that was released about the 958, but from the pictures the angle of the back of the receiver is not the same as regular vz.58, and it seems to be messing with the angle of the stock. Has this been discussed somewhere else, and if not what's that about?

I don't think it has been discussed but there are two reasons for changing the angle:
1) the original Kalashnikov design came out long before optical sights were common. Iron sights sit closer to the barrel.
2) the straight-back stock design greatly reduces muzzle flip

If I am wrong, somebody will soon correct me. ;)

I agree with you on both counts, as I have an inline stock and a red dot on my 858.

So the straight back makes the stock more in line but also higher, but the sights are not any higher though, and the buttplate ends up being at a strange angle. That's what's got me curious.

"the boys in red serge in the forensics lab"

These "boys" should be highly trained specialists. I am beginning to fear they are ordinary staffers picked randomly to fill in for a week or two and that is why results are so unpredictable. "Here's the rule book, there's what needs checking. Do your best."

Please, someone tell me I'm wrong.

no 958 pistol was submitted. You might be thinking of a VZ58 pistol possibly. The ones made from CSA

With that being said, how hard would it be to have 958 prototype drafted with no hole for the stock, an 8" barrel and a big "this is a pistol" stamped on it?
These rifles will sell like hotcakes, if approved, but a pistol version would really fly off the shelf.

And maybe a few extra mags.

well I think at this time we would prefer to get the 958 approved and then go from there.

Yes, but, do they have chrome lined barrels?

Still waiting on the boys in red serge in the forensics lab. Contact your MP and tell them to put the pressure on them. There are a lot of fine firearms being help up in that lab that all us fine firearms folks in Canada could be enjoying!

If you could LMK some details I'll bring this up with my MP. I just don't want to show up with no details.

Mike

I would settle for a single line of chrome in the barrel. I would imagine that would be at least doable.
