There are a lot of good ideas about how to build it but I think Mr Wolverine is doing us a huge solid by making this rifle for us. I think he should make it how he wants, I doubt this rifle will disappoint any way it comes.

I cant freakin wait for this, I'm a huge 858 fan and sure I'll love this one to.

On one hand, we canucks tend to be cheap when it comes to firearms. On here you'll hear complaints about a $200 sks as being expensive. So trying to hit a $750 price point makes sense. On the other hand, when chrome lined 58s come up for sale on here, they seem to sell out very quickly. Would it be unprofitable to offer chrome lined barrels for a higher priced option? Last i checked the Slovak's still use the 58 as a standard issue rifle, so would chrome lined barrels be all that expensive? Although surplus Slovak barrels would only come in restricted lengths. All told, I'd be willing to pay more for non restricted chrome barrels.

dissagree. you obvious don't follow the u.s gun market. And how guns here can cost 30 percent more even when our dollars are par.

Im well aware of the us gun market prices. But that doesnt change the fact that people ##### about the prices of even the cheap stuff up here. Try asking the retailers on here . Were a smaller market and per capita we dont shell out anywhere near what our friends to the South will shell out on firearms.

I wonder, if on a person to person basis, if a Canadian gun owner (not just the one hunting rifle guy, but an actual shooter) spends more or less per year then their US counterpart? I would make an intuitive guess and say the Canadian spends more as he always feels that gun ownership may legally come to an end, whereas the US counterpart feels that someone will always fight for what is guaranteed them in their constitution.

There's a stigma in Canada regarding firearm ownership, on top of the restrictions on certain firearms i.e. handguns and short barrel semis, and unfortunately the AR platform. Also, the fact that self-defense/deterrence is not only, NOT a valid or legal reason to own a firearm, but admitting it will land your PAL application in the rejection pile. In Canada, if you don't hunt or have a range membership there's no other official reason to own a firearm. That's one of the main reasons Canadian dealers don't sell as many guns per capita. I would bet that at least 20-30% of people who don't currently own firearms of any kind, would either own firearms, or strongly consider it if there were less hoops to jump through, and no fear of being hung by the justice system if used in self-defense, and at least 80% of current PAL holders would own handguns if there were no transportation/range only restrictions, even if registration was still required. Also cost of firearms in Canada alone probably brings spending per gun owner on par, or above our southern neighbors...guns per capita doesn't count, cause we don't have 200 different options of 9mm handguns between $200 and $400, and 30 options for AR-15's between $400 and $600 with almost zero restrictions. It's not uncommon for your typical American gun nut to have 20 handguns, that cost them what we would pay for 10.

I also have talked to many people who thought magazine fed semi-auto center fire rifles were flat out illegal in Canada.

Chrome lined barrel is a must on this that was one of the weak points of the 858. Also taking the xcr 7.62 pistol mags would be a big plus, as the vz mags are stuck at 5. So a stanag mag well would be ideal.

I have a CZ858 and its barrel is chrome lined. Did CZ ever produce none CL barrels?

I know CSA makes vz58 w/o CL barrels.

None of the non-restricted CZ858 rifles had a chrome lined barrel only the restricted length ones.

Umm what is this then?

They had the chrome lined in stock a couple days ago, I almost bought it too...

I'm fairly certain (not 100%) that the barrels of the FEW that are chrome lined were done after the left the factory, not by CSA.
