The new 958 sounds like a winner! I'm 100% in.
I agree, basic low cost and get it to market ASAP and people can modify them on their own. Beaver barf wood is ok.
I myself would go for the Tactical model.
I like that it has iron sights.
Chrome barrels would be good, but I can live with non-chrome too. Either way I'm happy.
Short barrel chrome Restricted I may consider as well, but NR is first on my list.

Maybe Wolverine could be the expert depot for receiver retrofitting for the older models caught in all the recent kafuffle?:)

Send your now prohibited cz858 and get a free cz 958 ...

..or get a new manufactured 958; your parts, on a new receiver... for a cost- receiver plus labour to extract/ press fit the barrel, headspace check; lower parts kit completion, at your discretion...
$400-500..?? I'd be in for that, as opposed to flushing the whole piece.

Sorry no more photos for approx. 2 weeks. We have yet to finalize the details so still time for some changes. We are proposing to offer two models based on one rifle. Four if we include short chrome lined barrels which will make her restricted, how many of you want her?

Will keep the base price as low as we can by supplying with standard ex military furniture allowing for options that will increase the price.
Do you want the stock angle flattened to improve your cheek weld?

Any interest in heavier barrels, this should not increase cost, not sure if there is space for much increase?

All CZ 958 will come a new receiver equipped with 1913 rail with built in case deflector, the old top cover is not used, bolt carrier is slightly modified, not tabbed as the gremlin should almost disappear due to improved tolerances.

The Hunter will come with no sights, no front sight base, a trim small threaded on flash hider and 2x5 rd (short) mags. I envision this rifle will be equipped with optics and upgraded with "Canadian wood furniture"

The Tactical will come with the original front sight base with muzzle nut so all after market flash hiders can be fitted. A aperture rear sight will come as standard this clamps to the rail so it can be mounted close to your eye where aperture (ghost ring) ring sights belong. Base model will have military style folding stock. I envision this rifle will be equipped will all the Tack Cool accessories an owner can afford in increase the LCF! Standard would be 4x5/30 mags included.

Bayonets, mag pouches, slings etc not included as our aim is to keep the original purchase price of the base units to under $1,000.00 not sure yet if we will meet our target yet.

No ETA and no pre orders yet.

Hopefully we will be able to offer chrome lined barrels in the future but certainly not on the first batches.

No stripped receivers at this time as we will want every receiver completed as a rifle. I am looking at another source for low cost standard receivers.

Please keep your comments coming.

Sorry for the grammar but an I- pad in the bar does seem to have a mind of her own!:)

I just have to decide which model I want by the time you have them in. I'm thinking maybe the hunter, but both sound great!

We have access to over 30,000 new unused chrome lined barrels, these are all short. We could retail them for approx. $100 each if demand is there. These cost a lot more to make but are available as surplus, un used as do not even have gas port drilled. Now new 18.6 inch barrels have to be newly manufactured at today's cost, we can not retail new chrome lined barrels for $100 !! We may in the future be able to provide new 18.6 inch chrome linned barrels but it wil drive up the price. Right now I want to bring the CZ 958 to market as quickly as possible and as cheap as possible, we now have 14 months lost sales to make up.

on a totally different line of conversation do you think those barrels could be incorporated into a new bolt action rifle ? given the popularity and rareness of the cz 527 carbine ? being as they have no gas tap drilled .

could be a good seller .

I think these short barrels would make the bolt guns 'restricted'.

Nope. Barrel length minimum length (for Non-Restricted), is a semi-automatic, centre-fire thing.

Correct. All we need to worry about is an overall length of 26 inches, and we're good to go.

Great idea.

Short-barreled bolt action in 7.62X39 is a great idea. Something for John to work on for next year.

yes next year project . cz 958 first .

once again my vote goes for the hunter with no iron sights and a heavy barrel , hopefully the MOA would be acceptable for hunting at range .

Mr Wolverine Just do your best to get as many as possible of these in country before the next election. I'm gonna need a few to do up in different configurations. Thanks for bringing these to Canadians!

Couldn't have said it better myself. I might need to pick one up every shipment just to support Wolverine in this!

It would be such a shame if they didn't come with chrome lined 18.6 inch barrels. I wouldn't even consider one without a chrome barrel.

You have to clean them anyway, as the piston etc will still rust from the ammo. You get better accuracy out of a non-chrome lined barrel and unless you are planning on running your rifle on full-auto the chrome lining really isn't doing anything. In some cases it can be worse, as if there is a small hole in the chrome lining, rust can form in behind it.

..Why make this gun heavy and lack irons...?!

It is a SEMI AUTO and it is in .762x39...both not "bench rest" qualities....
