CZ Bren2 Owner: Info, Pics, Mods

Seems like spare parts are an issue for these. Is there anywhere to buy an extra barrel or small parts if there is an issue? I’ve seen charging handles and triggers, but not much else appears to be readily available.

Spares for the Bren 2 are easy if you don't mind shopping in Lithuania. "Europe Outdoors" is a shop that has most of what you seek, although barrels may be a stretch. The store staff speak and write English, prices are reasonable and DHL shipping is quick and tracked. I have placed 2 orders without incident. They are good to go!

And as evidence of what I said above, behold - my new Mil-Spec Buttstock. Of note is the fact that the Military Buttstock exhibits none of the wobble and slop of the MS Buttstock. Definitely worth trying out if you are interested. The Military Buttstock is rock-solid when deployed and folds up to be retained very securely by the Brass Deflector.

I am considering purchasing Bren 2 MS in 556 and then most likely converting it to NR (only because of gungrabbin' habits of communist party of Canada, otherwise I would have kept it restricted). Which model should I go with?
14": Pros - that's original military configuration, it includes flip up sights. And if I decide to keep it restricted it would be "original military configuration" sans "fun mode". It's also USD$360 cheaper than 16". Cons - if I go with NR conversion I'll have to add stock instead of brace and also add longer HG, because short one would look ridiculous with 18 barrel
16": Pros - handguard as I understand is long enough to look just fine with 18 barrel, stock is already present (though as I understand it's not original military stock). Cons: no backup sights, "not original military" config, kinda US version of our NR. $360 more expensive.

What were your considerations when purchasing Bren with option to convert to NR?

It had to be 7.62 gun to start with

I would go with the 16" converted to 18.5 non restricted.

If you missed out, or if your preorder place got messed up (me), wait for CZ to get their stuff together and buy the 18.5 IF/when they become availble.
If they become availble, you get the rifle you originally ordered with no pinochio barrel compromises. If they dont, you save more than $ 3500 for something else.

The problem with 7.62 x39 is that it may become very hard to source in the not so distant future

Why? It's a common caliber that many manufacturers make. Cheap surplus may dry up as it is consumed, but that was/is inevitable.

Try finding 338 Lapua ammo right now, that is an actual problem

Mostly come from europe, russia and china and production here seem sparse. I don't see much in stock around right now except norinco and meh surplus

338 being even more elusive Id prefer sticking to common NATO calibers but thats me

Finally just about got my 7.62x39 Bren all together the way I want it, just installed the hbi 10" handguard, bit shorter than most but still allows for the mock silencer. Offset charging handle, safety selectors and trigger all from hbi as well. Only thing I'm still waiting on is the UBR stock kit which seems rather backordered.

I should've included a Vz58 in the pic... I love Cz stuff

EDIT - added my favorite Vz58, just because. If anyone cares, the Sigmaco T81 AK grips fit Vz58s...
