CZ Bren2 Owner: Info, Pics, Mods

Trying out different setups for my bren. I prefer the eotech setup, but would definitely need a riser for it as it interferes with the charging handle a little bit.

Offset charging handle could be your friend?

Nice rifle BTW, is that a reverse (fake) can?

anyone with an 11" conversion had a chance to group it yet ?
Im debating on if I should go with an LPVO and stacked dot or just stick with my Holographic and Mag

Running a Mepro holographic optic on my 9" 7.62x39 Bren, with it set back as far as possible on the rail to not interfere with the charging handle. Seems so natural with this type of glass.

It's all the same if done properly.

Different length gas system need to have the appropriate size gas port in the barrel

This is accurate.

As a side note the 11" and shorter use the "short" gas system (think the 14" does too but not sure) which is sized for a smaller profile barrel. The combination of thinner barrel and shorter gas system should make the gun very easy to handle and not front heavy.

The 16" & 18" have the long gas system and use a heavier profile barrel.

There is no 18" version, only 18" conversions and they all are different, depending on if gun started as 8, 11, or 16. Former two will have short gas and latter one will have long gas system.
8" is CZ EU civilian carbine (not 100% sure here) with short length gas , 11" is military carbine version with short gas, 14" version is military rifle and has long length gas system on the thinner barrel. 16" is strictly USA version, has long gas system on HB. That at least what I have found during my research.

You are correct.

So based on the observations, the converted short gas system is the way to go if one wants a lightweight barrel.

Correct.

From what I understand the gas system is a different size (smaller) than the long gas system and so the barrel is thinner / lighter.

The 16" version made specifically for north america has a heavier barrel, the replacement will be the same diameter to enable the use of the original gas system.

Not sure I see your point here. The 16" doesn't have the short gas system.

Marstar are converting the 11" which has the short gas system and as such will use a thinner profile (lighter) NR length barrel.
