DAC 394 (Sig 228 Clone) Kit

I may have missed it in the posts... what is the "Fitting" on these "kits". I realize they are unfinished, but does anything need serious work?

I may order one tomorrow depending on what needs to be done to assemble these.

~Cheers

Ah, I bet you guys will spend at least $70 in reference books and videos, hand tools and finishes.

Even if I do spend that much I'll still only be into this for around $330.00 including the Hogue grips I ordered with the kit from Dlask. Still less than a Norinco 228 knock off if you can find on for sale right now.....I can live with the cost and the fun of getting to put it together and finish it myself :D

I have three DAC 394's and a Sig 228. The 394's use the restricted 10 rd magazines. One of the DAC 394 was built with a comp barrel. The DAC's all work as well as the Sig 228.

Is this pistol better than Norinco NP-34?

I'm somewhat curious about this as well. Once again, I don't have my kit yet but in my humble opinion it's better than a Norinco for me because:
1) It's made in Canada! Thats a huge factor for me, I really want to support Canadian businesses and especially Canadian Arms makers.
2) You're forced to learn about your gun! I've seen many people who have owned handguns for some time and still have no clue how they work other than the striker/firing pin hits the primer of the round.
3) If I have a serious problem, I can contact Dlask. (ie: crack in the frame or flaw in the metal itself) I'm sure some of the site sponsors will help you out if you have major issues with your Norc too.
4) Dlask Arms seems to have a pretty good reputation on CGN and elsewhere, so I'm confident in the quality of their metal and parts.
5) "Supposedly" the DAC 394 is an EXACT (minus the 4 ridges in magwell) clone of the Sig P228. Not too sure how close the Norincos are to the real thing?

And lastly, perhaps most importantly, I BUILT IT!!!! For me, there's a certain pride that comes with putting something together with my own two hands rather than just buying it assembled.... kinda like making your own muscle car in your garage as opposed to buying one at Barret-Jackson auctions. It may not be the prettiest, but I built it. :D

Norinco use aircraft grade aluminum alloy in its Sig clones.moreover, they has modified locking block in their 3rd Gen clones to enhance frame rails strength.

No need for the Dlask pistol is all steel, no?

You're on :D

I down-loaded the armoror's manual free. I have tools, including a sand blaster and a BIG GIANT bottle of parkerizing solution that I got long ago directly from radocy, taps and dies. If I don't parkerize, I have some Duracoat in OD and black and a small airbrush.

The only thing I'm uncertain of is the amount of work required to assemble.

Any other finishes out there other than Duracoat that are worth mentioning? Just curious what the options are.

I'm personally looking forward to this as a learing experience. Call it the ultimate Sig familiarization! lol Sig armourer's course on eBay for $35. Brownell's has one for $25, too. :)

Krylon could be another less expensive option? Not as durable though. I may look into it combines with a Satin Lacquer finish to protect.

I'm just sending it back to Joe once I have it completed for bluing.
I had a Luger done by them, and it was cheap, fast, and turned out perfect!

I'm going to be kicking myself in the butt for not logging in and finding this post sooner if they have sold out

I just placed and on-line order... fingers crossed...

if the frame is stainless it won't blue.
it's been a long long time since I ripped apart and put together the DACs, I think I tore down 450 or more and cut them all up (the old aluminum frame), and put together probably 150 or so. strangely enough all I can remember is that the tool helped with putting in and taking out the main spring assembly. It had a fork with a bend in it I think. Sorry I can't be more help.
interesting that the guns are being imported into the USA now. One of the reasons the DACs stopped being produced was because SIG managed to get them banned from import due to Chinese parts (at the time).

I was told the frame was steel in the white. I don't think it is stainless. In fact it is cast metal, not forged like his 1911's.
