Wow, some of you really think that Harper's conservatives are going to completely revamp the gun laws in Canada. Not going to happen.
Derestrict the AR and FN.
Simple common sense task.
Getting the AR-15 off of the restricted list would be fantastic!
Another good start would be to get the minimum barrel length for non-restricted down to 16". That would open up many more factory black rifle options with out having special barrels made to make them non-restricted.

You guys are thinking far too small.
I want the Canadian Charter of 'Rights and Freedoms' completely re-vampted to include right to property and the right to bear arms.
Work it so even the Supreme Court cannot 'interpret' it to mean anything less than what it is.
Despite what we hope for, there will be a day in the future that a left-leaning government will form a majority and will overturn any reversal that takes place with the current firearms laws. It is not enough that our immediate wants and desires are filled, but that our laws and freedoms are protected and enshrined for our children and their children. Anything less is unacceptable.

+1 not a whole lot is going to change. They may scrap the long gun registry. But any more work than that is unrealistic. I doubt their first order of business, of even 100th order of business is to look at reworking our fire arms legislation. Just sayin
