Dealing with VORTEX Warranty has so far been a hassle, please let me know what you...

My $.02;

You sent them a used scope (once purchased from retailer, it becomes a used item, regardless of what it is or if you ever use it). This was either defective or improperly mounted. No point in arguing that with them.

It seems they can't fix your scope, so they're offering you the same scope with updates (side parallax) that's also been fixed. This would be the same as getting your scope back repaired,no?
Where's the issue?

Not sure if OP knew the scope purchased was discontinued? In any case, options were provided to you and not sure what's missing?

I just recently received a replacement to HST 6-24x50. Took 4 weeks round trip.

My only problem is, I am either getting a used scope, or a SMALLER scope, those are my options. the side parallax model is a SMALLER scope, with no sun shade.

I gotta say again, I am not trying to bash their Canadian warranty department, as they probably called the US and thats what was offered, as I stated at the beginning, just trying to see what you boys and girls think, I personally love the glass on these scopes, and love the scopes (I own others) but as someone else said in a post , "I dont have time for warranty bull#### in my life right now"

And to be clear, I am defending what I feel is "Wrong" About it, I am not telling any of you people that YOU are wrong in saying "They are offering the same scope as yours, used, who cares?" And its why I wanted to make this post, to see how many people would go "Meh, I'll take it" And how many would go the other way. These are just all of our opinions , and I appreciate all of them, whichever way they go.

And also, the warranty says "Send you a scope in working order" So sending me a used scope is within their warranty agreement I guess. LEt me state, I NEVER would have bought a viper if people had said "Great warranty, but they MIIIIIIIIIIGHT send you a used scope, or a lower smaller model, your choice"

Someone also pointed out a phone call before sending me the different scope would have been ok. I have dealt with all kinds of warranties, most of them limited or not even very good warranties , was never offered a used anything in return. I didnt think it would happen with THIS warranty.

I have bought 15 vortex scopes.... I will give you my honest opinion here.....

I finally had one fail out of the box, unfortunately....

It was a cheap crossfire II i put on a .30-06 while waiting for what I wanted, and the guts failed.... rattled in the scope after two shots.....

When i sent it back, they told me I had overtourqued the rings and had bent the tube.... I use a torque screwdriver on all of my installs and I am an engineer, so my screwdriver is in the $300 range... worth more than the scope.... After what they told me, I recalibrated my driver and it was bang on..... personally, I felt they were after brownie points and they made me feel like they were doing me a favour replacing my gear..... but I will give them kudos for standing by their warranty....

That being said, I got a new scope at my door in less than two weeks with excellent communication along the way..... so I guess its a toss up.... I have had nothing but satisfaction with the other scopes from them that I have owned..... and have taken many game animals with them.... but, at the same time, I know I didn't overtorque those rings....

Take it as you will... great experience with them, and the price point has been awesome for what they have delivered..... but my new rifle (that I don't have time to screw around with based on and upcoming hunt), will have a Zeiss on it......

There seems to be a lot of threads on the net regarding Vortex warranty/customer service. That in itself speaks volumes. I would rather pay a little( or a lot more) and have a dependable product.
For every ONE thread you read about NightForce warranty/customer service you will read 2 dozen threads or more on Vortex and Leupold warranty/customer service.
just sayyin......

I think you read a lot more about vortex warranty because they probably sell 3 vortex scopes for every 1 leuopold. I've bought 7 vortex scopes and have yet to have an issue.
Regardless I think OP should get an upgraded scope if his model is discontinued. Really what's the cost to them.

A grateful customer who would probably keep buying, instead of one that will never buy one again.

Exactly, give him an upgrade and he's a customer for life.

On a different note I just bought my 1 year old snow mobile in with a dead battery, just out of warranty on the battery. Dealership replaced it for free. Yup I'm somewhat loyal to them.

Some people figured this out a long time ago. Others seem to be fixated in the price and the "awesome warranty" like it's exclusive to any one brand. :roll eyes:

You get what you pay for..

My sentiments exactly. I don't hear a lot of complaints on Leopolds warranty as I suspect most leupold owners rarely have occasion to use it. I've literally owned dozens of Leopolds (and a few Redfields) over the years and have yet to have a problem with any. I know several people that cannot say the same for their Vortex products.

Actually my experiences are 180 opposite of you. I have some Vortex, so far no problems, but this thread is not encouraging.

I will never buy another Leupold again, sold it off. Still have one on my 375Rum, just hasnt broken....yet.

Never ever had an issue with Vortex Warranty, which can't be said the same for Burris. I purchased 5 scopes from a Burris dealer, 3 of 5 had no or less than a rotation of windage adjustment and none would line up with boresighter. I sent them in for their lifetime warranty in September hoping to have them back for maybe November. well happy new year to me, still no scopes. A call to Stoeger, the warranty centre on Christmas Eve says yes they are here, no we haven't looked at them yet but hope to do so in the new year. Looks like we may of had a bad batch of optics. still waiting and wondering what I will get.

I used to buy Bushnell, never had luck, every one I ever sent in never came back with the same model. a 3-9x40 would come back a 3-9x32 or sorry that has been discontinued and you get their $29 special that they mount on some package deal rifles. A pair of elite bino's went in and were never seen again.

Vortex was a new scope both times. One was a Viper HS out of the box that there was no windage, a call was placed Monday to them and the following week I had a brand new scope. The other was a Crossfire that was discontinued, so I got a new Crossfire II. Love them or hate them, still among the most bang for your buck for really decent glass that you can afford to mount on most every rifle set up.

See when I read things like this I don't think " WOW, that is awesome customer service", RATHER, I think "WOW, how did that ever get out the door".

Vortex has replaced scopes that were damaged through no fault of vortex, not sure that other warranties cover that. I've owned at least 10 that I can think of, never a single problem. If I ever need to use the warranty, big deal, I know Ill have a new scope in short order. They are hands down the best value out there. I currently am running a viper pst, viper, gen 2 razor HD, couple red dots, range finding monocular, spotting scope.

Nikon has no fault warranty, which they have backdated for all their products. I have read a lot of Vortex warranty threads here on my short time on CGN, to the point where I don;t think I will ever buy one. I'd rather not have to use a warranty at all; though everything can break. I bought a Zeiss Terra that died in 8 months, sent it off and a few months later received a brand new one. I still haven;t mounted that one on anything just yet.
