in 6 feet of snow :p

No no no, you didn't read all the details.:p 1 foot of snow, first 200yds down hill, the rest uphill........LOL!

I am sure he will get an experience like that soon enough, then I can make fun!:D

Riley, you should hook up with Mig25 for an Elk Hunt, I hear he likes to get them in tight spots too! :D

Rules Of The Road

While all provinces have some difference in shooting regarding roads:
In All of ON it is illegal to shoot from or across the travelled portion of any road Maintained for the public. Old logging roads don't count. Also, in Southern ON it is illegal to shoot from between the fences or on the road allowance (66 feet on most 2 lane roads). This is not the rule in N. ON, which causes trouble when game wardens come from the "deep south" for big game season. SO if you get charged for shooting a deer in a field in which you have permission to hunt, but your fired cartridges land on the road, and you get charged. don't do like a friend of mine did and plead guilty and pay the fine. First, show the CO the relevant copy of the summary of regulations (which it s a good idea to have with you) and if he still insists, get a lawyer.
Bill

Still need to be able to spell and write in a readable fashion as log books need to be filled out

Thank you. I have a cross shift who can't seem to spell his name the same way three times in a row  What a PIA to read his chicken scratch in the daily log book  Riley, 4th class gives you an entry level position into a number of gas plants in our area :D Lot's of game ;) seven on/seven off shifts, $50K year for starting salary...

I'll second that ... :(

Who gives a ####? A lot of the hunting terrain in BC *is* the FSR's (forest service roads). You'd be hard pressed to find something nice and walkable or some kind of field or meadow close to the lower mainland.

I could care less how he hunts. Point is, he is out there shooting deer not kids in a school....:runaway: :runaway: (oops was that too much)....

But seriously, I know of a few places that I did still hunting and that's about it, 90% of my kills were on a forest road, so what? Does that make me any worse? And i've only been hunting for like six years.

I don't care, it's like those "holier than thou" catch and release fishing attitude...

Nice way to encourage someone into hunting...

Nice job anyway Riley, waiting for pics. Have fun and be safe. I'm going hunting 1st week of october to cache creek again. Can't wait.

Congrats on your first animal Riley!
I won't hack on ya about the road hunting, but next time I highly reccommend trying to get one by walking through the bush and drop something at least a half mile from your truck. That's when you really earn it!

I bet you had fun with the field dressing. I know I did with my first one, although I was only 14.

Congrats,
Noel
Ive been hunting for years with my family :D so Im no stranger to it :) and this is my 6th animal so far :D 2 deer 3 bear 1 caribou. I love hunting it is alot of fun :D
Me, Aaron and a few buds are going out camping/hunting/fishing this weekend . Going to camp out and stuff, any one know where enso park down sonders road is should come out too it should be allot of fun.
As I can only get one deer in reagon 6 ill be showing him the ropes of hunting :D Im debating on getting a bear tag. I am not really in to the hide and I have herd that fall bears are not as tasty as spring bears.

Get a tag for the bear anyway. It's only $20 and you never know, might see a monster....

I've eaten fall and spring bear, no difference to me.

Anyway, congrats again.

Now get those pics up!

Good to hear your family clan has been taking you out. I wish I could say the same. Hunting seemed to have missed a generation on both sides of my clan.

Get the bear tag too, hard to say how much longer they will be out but if you see a good one you won't regret not having a tag in your pocket.

Have fun!

And another road hunter is born.:(
So ....... help us get this right.

Your telling us that you don't look for game while driving/riding to your hunting spot, and you wouldn't stop the car/truck to legally shoot game, and you like dragging deer/moose long distances to the vehicle.

.

Well Im off for a weekend of hunting grouse and rabbits maby a bear if the right one steps in front of me. Aaron really wonts to get himself a deer so ya Im going to take him out and giver her a try!

Of course I look for game, I'm always looking for game.:D :D No I wouldn't stop and shoot from a public road although it is often legal. To me how I get my animal is more important than getting an animal.

Riley didn't make it clear he was shooting from a logging road. I assumed (incorrectly) he was shooting from a public road, which although common is in my opinion unethical.

Slugo,

Start posting some of your hunts before you start judging others

Great story Riley! Tell Aaron to hurry up. We're all waiting for pics;)

Why? Is there a requiremnet or need to post experiences before one can comment on others experiences? Have I been unethical by expressing my opinion? I assumed he wanted peoples recognition about what he had done or he wouldn't have posted it.

Riley posted his hunting experience to share what he had done. I expressed my opinion about it.

FWIW, I do not object to hunting from logging roads or trails with a motorized vehicle. Different areas call for different techniques and strategies. I am glad and envious Riley had an ejoyable hunting experience. I wish the same for eveyone.

Nice set of standards buddy. First let me say that if you need to use "not shooting kids in a school" to gauge what's right or wrong, then no wonder moral values are continuously being lowered. Why don't you use piloting a plane into an occupied office building, maybe then you can justify no even bothering to get out of the truck to shoot. And let me clarify that catch and release fishing has to do with "conservation", not being "holier than thou". I hope that you soon learn the meaning of such things as "sportsman like conduct", "fair chase" and "conservation". Remember the only reason that YOU are able to go out and hunt IS because of conservation.

Slugo, I'll have you as a hunting partner anyday.
