Deer Season 2020 Thread

I have been out 3 times so far haven't seen a thing and not getting a whole lot on trail cameras either. Seeing lots of sign just no deer I hunt southern Ontario its all farmland and the corn is still up. I think once the corn is down and the weather gets a bit colder the hunting will get a lot better

Does/fawns and bucks are really active all night here, watched a doe and fawn this AM for a hour in the stand, hoping atleast 1 of the 7 bucks shows up during light shortly, so far they are staying in the thick stuff until dark though,

This huge 13 point buck haunts my dreams hes strictly nocturnal and hasnt made an appearance in a week so far on my trail cam hes old and blind in one eye i really hope he walks infront of me if i do get him ill make sure to show you all the pictures.

I heard all the deer are headed east towards the Atlantic Bubble! They figured out there will be fewer hunters there and are safe for the first 14 days after entry LOL!!

I went out this morning for a short ride to one of my honey-holes. In a 3 square mile area I saw 75 deer (usually see about 250) and 52 elk, but no geese, which is unusual.

I managed to meet up with member MD and our friend Tony in one of my usual blacktail deer spots.
Got a nice fat spike buck the first morning and then gave up the stand to tony and his girlfriend (new hunter and rpal holder!) and they got a decent and thick racked 2x 2.
was so warm the blowflies were showing up so we had to bug out, leaving MD a spot in the stand. He saw lots of does but no bucks and pulled the plug a day later when the heavy rains set in. Meant to go back this week but hunted locally instead.... seeing lots of healthy does and fawns.
heading moose hunting in the morning up country meeting up with another cgner to hunt near babine lake...... hope we get a bull!!

Filled my doe tag on the first day of the season. Makes for a really boring rest of season.. guess I'll go grouse/pheasant hunting as much as possible

I pruned up some apple trees the last few off-seasons in hope I'd get some old abandoned farm orchards back into production. Unfortunately, we had a terrible drought this summer, so all those spots are basically dead, as there are no apples.

As for my spots in town, they're both weak. One has a spike, and a six and a four that stop by every few days. The other, where I shot a nice 11 a few years back and a decent 8 last year, has ... nothing but does and a spike. I'm hoping that with gun season opening up here in NB next week, some big boys will get pushed around. Very rare for me to not see a decent buck in my old faithful town spot.

Just some does so far
