I think the bipod rail is new as well... skeletonized to reduce weight.
It's going to be heavier with the full length rail. The std A2 forend has no rails, it will be lighter

M2 looks to be just a different forend and rail that bolts to receiver instead of being part of the receiver. Doesn't show up as available yet even on desert techs own website.

No the M2 is lighter with skeletonized receiver and lower weight barrel profiles option.
I am still thinking of one of these in 338 Norma.....
Talk me out of it?

Dont get the factory barrel unless you are looking for a light setup. I know the 338 lapua on an a2 was at some points unpleasant to shoot especially on 50+ round days. Got an aftermarket 300 Norma barrel assembly and it's a joy to shoot
Who did the aftermarket 300 norma?

I got a 300 Norma from InSite Arms, but know that their extension will not lock on the left side of the rifle only the 4 screws.
I just got my 308 win IBI barrel and that one locks.
I just picked up an SRS A2 in 308, its my new favourite rifle. The trigger is fantastic, being shorter the weight doesn't matter its comfortable to carry. My largest group with factory ammo is 3/4 MOA my smallest group with hand loads is 1/4 MOA. I don't find the bolt manipulation awkward. Frankly if you want something different that works this is it. My ONLY complain is the mags suck. I with they were double stack dual feed. Other than that its a great rifle.

IBI makes Desert Tech barrels? I’ve tried getting a quote from Insite for the last 5 months and they won’t give me one.
Our prefits intentionally do not utilize the lock...it isn't required and potentially reduces accuracy/repeatability. ..we maintain our 3/8" guarantee on the AI & DTA prefits
