Did I wreck my volquartsen barrel

I recently bought a new volquartsen barrel for my 10/22. I was cleaning it , got distracted and accidentally ran an 45acp bore snake through it..

Im worried I damaged my new barrel.

Everything looks ok but im just not sure.

Don't think you hurt your barrel, but how did you manage to pull the boresnake through without snapping it off in the barrel?

I doubt it, was it stuck in the bore? I find it hard to believe it would even fit in a bore half the diameter. Likely be fine.

I seriously doubt any damage from I pull of an oversize brass brush in a steel barrel. Lucky it didn't stick. Shoot it that will identify any issues.

Oh gosh, did you really just question if bore snakes damage rifle barrels!? Now you’re going to get the bore snake haters fired up! Soon enough they’ll be along to tell us how a piece of nylon string or synthetic fibers practically cut barrels in half




Seriously though, bore snakes are already pretty snug when pulling them through when properly matched. How the heck did the OP pull a snake meant for .45’s through a .22 barrel!?

you likely flattened the rifling and expanded the bore diameter thru the harmonics off as well
Now what you should do is get a bore scope so you get a clear view of the damage done
