Well, i received 2 packages in the mail today. I know filling primer tubes is a bit of a pain (akin to picking fly sht out of pepper) but it needs to be done
After tracking what i shot this year all loaded on a Dillon 550 press, i decided to time myself picking up a new box of primers and shaking them in the tray, then loading the tube etc.
Interesting. For every 100 rounds loaded, you waste an average of 3 minutes just picking up primers. Which roughly translates into 30++ more rounds you could have loaded if you hadn't stopped to fill tubes.
Well i am happy to report the primer filler works as advertised, and if you are on the fence about getting one, do yourself a favor and take the plunge.

I do love reloading, but i would much rather clean my press than fill tubes.

And i also confess to reliading the same batch of primers five times tonight just to watch it work.

Yup, i am a reloadaholic. And this is a great piece of kit.

I was lucky enough top purchase a Frankford Arsenal Vibra-Prime tube filler years ago. How long ago? Well long enough ago that I bought it from Midway when they were shipping to Canada. The Vibra-Prime was really inexpensive (about $30) compared to the Dillon but the Dillon is the only game in town now. And man how I hated filling primer tubes.

I got one in November and I love it. I've about tripled my loading rate now that I don't have to spend 5 minutes or more with a primer pickup tube every 100 rounds, especially when you get a few that are being difficult and don't want to pick up properly.

Dump primer magazine into press. Put the magazine back in the RF-100. Empty tray of primers on top. Push button. Whole process takes maybe 30 seconds. Go back to loading. Long before you have loaded the 100 primers you just put in the machine, the magazine is full again. Repeat.

Is the speed of your primer filler adjustable?

The early versions were not...but you can buy and upgraded switch to adjust the speed.

I had problems with mine and WSP's before I upgraded the switch.

Even at that...it hates Winchester and loves S&B...

I love mine also, but do find it fussy sometimes on different primer types...

I have upgraded it to the rheostat switch and it has improved it for sure...It defiantly likes CCI primers more than winchester and Federals are a joke for sure...

I think i got a batch of very inconstant winchester primers as i am having allot of them seating deep in my brass this would explain the issue if the heights are not consistant... :(

Mine works better with the blast shield off and a elastic around it to put tension on the drop tube... I have spent hours fooling with it and this makes it the most reliable and rarely flips primers...I have also replaced all of the parts free from Dillon of course... :D

I should try some of those S&B primers, i heard they are really square and consistent for height but they don't seat as well in brass due to how square they are... Any feedback on that?

Yes, mine has the adjustable speed control. I am loving it. CCI SRP's really dance nicely on it, and fill the tube in less than a minute.

talk about cool.

I am really having fun watching the whole process. Even going as far as dumping the filled tube back into the hopper!!!!

I just got one as well, that's my problem is I'm not saving time as I'm having too much fun watching it work!

I think it's going to be a fantastic asset though once I get over that. It's kinda like the brass feeder, I want to put a mirror on the roof just to watch it work.

I did notice a difference in the seating depth between S&B and Winchester...the Winchesters were a tad higher with the same machine settings.

The 1050 has adjustable seating depth for the primers so it's a non issue...on the rare occasion I switch brands...I just fine tune the primer mechanism.

Other then that...the S&B's are far and away my favourite primer.

'Blast shield off'??? Do you enjoy the use of your fingers? Do you like the look of a pockmarked face? Sorry, but I will heed the advice of Ed Matunas (author of several reloading manuals and former Winchester employee) who advised to cut any and all stacked primer feed systems off at the base with a hacksaw.
