Dlask non-restricted ACR Barrel

Updates about what?
How the Dlask barrel shoots or how long the CFC is going to take to remove the rifle from the records?

I've done restricted and prohibited firearms through Dlask Arms and it took 2 days - 6 weeks and that was all the cfo sitting on it. It depends on the back log at the CFO.

Anybody know if Dlask is offering a rebate if you just buy the barrel and swap the parts yourself? I'm just about to keep my ACR as everybody wants to buy it for a ridiculously low price ;)

I'm in the same boat IX. How do the dlask barrels compare to the factory. Better quality or not? Ill call dlask Today and find out about rebate

So I'm officially keeping my enhenced (+ basic FH) ACR now.
The Dlask barrel is next on my to buy list but I am considering having it nitrided before mounting it. I have a Dlask 12.5" 870 barrel also and as awesome as it is the finish isn't that durable, I'm assuming here that the Dlask 18.5" ACR barrel has the same finish. I figure it'd help a bit considering as far as I know the green mountain Dlask isn't lined.
So I'll probably be shipping both barrels (and the 870 receiver) to have them nitrided.
Decision decision...

Zupermann you gotta make this a priority!! 8)

Hell that's cheap for a new non-restricted ACR Barrel, Used plus new Barrel will be less than ordering it!

I hear some congestion and a cough in your typing, you should take tomorrow off.

Okay, an update is coming for you and Airborne 69.

I have yet to measure/crunch the numbers, but it looks like the Dlask NR barrel that was put on my ACR shoots about as well as the factory barrel did, with the types of ammo I shot in it. There were no malfunctions.
It was a 1 x 8" twist unlined barrel (according to Dlask).

Details will follow in the next 1-2 days. :)

Okay, here is a quick range report. In all, only about 60 rds were fired before I ran out of time/daylight. There were no malfunctions. scope was set at 10X (maximum).
Three shot groups at 100m--bipod front and sandbag or crunched hand support under the rear stock. Wind was negligible, temperature was about minus 5 to 10 C
Seven different brands of ammo were fired (number of groups varied between 2 and 4 per brand due to time limitations).

Norinco 223 (3 groups fired) averaged 1.9" (slightly more accurate than with the original ACR barrel)

Rem 55 gr fmj (2 groups fired) 1.53" average (the original acr shot this load in 1.58" average)

Winchester 62 gr fmj (2 groups fired) 1.8" average

Canadian C77 "mexican match" 60 gr V max ( 4 groups fired) shot a .99" average

Winchester 55 gr fmj (2 groups) averaged 1.6" (original ACR barrel averaged 1.2" with this load)

Federal 55 gr fmj (2 groups) averaged 1.73" (original acr averaged 1.96" with this load)

Swiss Raug 62 gr fmj --I believe I really "shanked" this one--the first group I shot was in 3.4" (lousy). I then shot a 5 shot group in 1.54". So, it does look like the first group was my fault. Just for comparison, the original acr barrel shot this load in 1.08" ( 3 shot group).

I then ran out of time. I did not remove the barrel and reinstall it during this test, so I can't comment on it's (or the original barrels) ability to hold zero if removed.

Thanks! Now I need to look up C77 ammo ;)

Edit: Frakk me... I just read the C77 thread :(

There was some avaiable/released back in the mid 1990's (which is where I got mine--sadly, I'm almost out). You can still get/make an equivalent load by seating the v-max bullet on some of the federal m855 that is intermittently around, or the PMC equivalent. Disclaimer:test it and watch for pressure signs!

Anybody know exactly what's involved into installing the piston parts yourself?
I'm wondering about the gas block mostly... I'd prefer not to have any drilling to do myself.

I've swapped gas systems on barrels before. It's very easy if the barrel is fully prepped.
If the Dlask barrel isn't cross drilled then you will have to either do it yourself or have someone do it for you. Another option is to simply make a small flatspot on the bottom of the barrel and then tap some threads into the gas block and use a set-screw. If you lived closer I would help you do it for free, it isn't hard if you have a drill press, put it together in a vise making sure it's lined up with the gas port perfectly (pipe cleaner through the gas block into the barrel) and find a drillbit the size of the small hole in the gas block, line it all up nice and drill through slowly. Once you have the holes drilled through use the jewelers round file to clean up the hole so it matches the taper between the large hole and the small hole in the gas block. Keep checking with the taper pins and stop when you can get the pins to go most of the way through and a punch and small hammer can push them the last little bit.
I did the drilling myself on my stainless 6.8SPC barrel and it didn't take long and worked out perfectly.

The only other part of the install that needs any fiddling is to get the op rod lined up perfectly, I just put the op rod through the gas block and the rod guide then lined up the tip of the op rod with the barrel indexing pin and tightened down the guide.

Good luck

Dlask just quoted me 550$ for a barrel without the install so I might just send them my ACR afterall... Same price anyway.

Shipping will be pricey.

If you order the barrel alone make sure you ask them if it is ready to install. I just talked to a guy who ordered one through a retailer in calgary and it showed up with no gas port and no cuts for the gas block taper pins.

The cuts for the taper pins are easy to make but I'm not comfortable drilling a gas port.

Thx, zupermann ! Now I can't wait to get mine, still no news from CSC.

I went to The CSC today and found out whats taking so long. It appears they have mailed our rifles back to Dlask to do it as they felt Dlask would do a better job........... We will see if the additional costs are passed off to the consumer. Airborn, did you pay up front for the install?? And if so, how much? The CSC still will not give me a price on how much this barrel swap is going to cost me.

The price advertised on Dlasks website two weeks ago was $550 INSTALLED. At the end of January the price wqas $499 installed....... Going to start taking screen shots of store prices. I like how they creep up quickly as interest grows.

it still is 550$ installed or not, as Leigh put it: "We do the install as a courtesy to our customers."

he didnt mention it but no gas port is completely unnaceptable tho wtf!

Just called CSC, no news from the Dlask barrels (did not talked to Markus), I as well never got a quote for the total. I did not pay up front for labour, just the rifle and barrel
