Do I need an ATT now or is it condition of PAL?

Called the CFC and told them i couldnt find that little piece of paper. They said your fine without it as long as your not in an area where if a cop pulls you over that he doesnt have access to his computers and the database. Otherwise he can punch in you pal number and see your conditions.

Thats funny they said that. It is an offence under the firearms act to not have that paper with your license.

Dont mean to hijack the thread , but I recently received my RPAL and the special conditions paper along with it , but its blank and my license says " standard conditions are attatched to this licence" so my question is what does that mean in regards to an ATT? I currently dont own any restricted firearms. Sorry if this is a silly question but im quite confused by these laws and have a hard time finding good information on the matter.

The law says you get your automatic authorization to transport when you renew your license or have a restricted firearm transferred to your name. Kind of dumb that they didn't just word it to apply to anyone with an RPAL or include new issues but there you go. You'll get the special conditions applied to your license when you buy a restricted.

Your new PAL should state, standard and non-standard conditions are attached to this license or, standard and transport conditions are attached to this license. If it does not say either, then you don’t have a combined ATT with your license.

It won't state that until he buys a restricted or renews his license. Dumb, yes, but that's how the law is written.

He doesn’t have to buy a Restricted to get it. All he needs to do is fax or e-mail proof of gun club membership at any time to the CFO unit. He will then have a new license mailed to him. The fact is, you can buy a restricted firearm without a license. It just won’t transfer into your name until you meet the requirements to have it. Which is license and ATT or license and part of a gun collection. You can also save them the reprint buy sending them proof of your gun club with your firearms license application or renewal.

You'll get another paper with a bunch of conditions on it once you buy a Restricted.

FWIW I just purchased my first restricted. The ATT was automatically generated when I made the purchase and a new conditions paper was mailed out. I was not asked to provide proof of gun club. I thought I had to so phoned the CFO. They asked if I was a member somewhere and I told them I was, but they did not ask for proof. They said that the new ATT had already been issued and it was good to transport to any proper range within the province, it didn't have to be my club. But if I wanted to travel out of province with it I'd have to call them back and get authorization to take out of province. This was here in BC.
