Awesome !! I'm going to make a trek out for a visit one day !!
Hey your NOT going all that way without me -RJ
In an abrupt change of subject, the smooth bright finishes on rifles don't give rust a place to start. I think we've been sold a bit of a bill of goods when cheapassed sand blasted finishes were sold as "non-reflective". Probably came from the same advertising staff that call Tupperware stocks weather-proof.
I am certainly looking forward to your traditionally honest and forthright assessment after you have had a chance for a "side by side" session.never have owned and shot extensively a 378 Wby? I can't see it being any worse than a well loaded 416 Rigby
but not here only got 2 banks in town and it's 30 miles away..........It does cut down on the impulse buying though.........
OK.......Leupold double dovetail bases and rings ordered in high gloss blue.....both low and med rings just in case (WSS actually had them all.....GASP) and 3.5-10 Vari X III ordered as well, found a nice high gloss shiny black one, for a mere 700 bucks..........GASP again!!! Gotta try out these DD Leupold bases and rings.........see if they hold up to the rigors, if not then I'll be going custom base and 3 rings.........had to do that on the Ackley.
Near maybe the only firm that makes a one piece base for the Mark V. Some would suggest that the two piece bases pass more torque to the scope tubeIf those rings/bases don't work check out NEAR. I've used his stuff on mkvs in 30-378, 338LM and 338-378. With or without breaks on, even heavy scopes never moved at all.

Doug,
did the rifle had open sights?
the two european i had not in not that lovely caliber had open sights made for the euro market but the stocks was not as good as this one, certainly a very nice one.
luckily you are not in town with it ... i dont like the recoil of the 378 wea ...
