LRC, nice shooting and no issue with using enough gun. Considering what that rifle can hit at 1450yds, that is just a chip shot for you

I always get a chuckle about the negs. of LR hunting. Those that take this sport seriously have more invested in the optics then most hunters do in all of their gear put together.
To the question, it is all about impact velocity. Today, we have the option of getting the same on game performance at 200yds as we do at 1000yds. You just pick the bullet based on the impact velocity range you will be encountering. Use the right case to get the bullets moving fast enough relative to the max distance you wish to engage and get practising.
For me, I use two bullets. 7mm 162gr SST for close range, Amax for further. Within their expect range of use, the expansion characteristics are near identical. Luckily, they also share the same plane of impact so I only have to adjust for elevation.
There isn't a bullet invented that will do all things so just pick what suits your fancy and have at it.
yes, the MK's work wonderfully at lower impact velocities but you still need 'enough' bullet. At LR, cal diameter and bullet mass matter - bigger is better. Why big boomers in 30, 338 and larger are used. You just don't have velocity on your side so smack the game with a bigger SOFTER bullet.
