Does shooting Norinco .223 lower the resale value of an AR?

I would never shoot or purchase a rifle if I knew it ate Norinco or wolf.

Either of you have a reason to go with your statement?
 
Have shot several thousands of rounds of Norc trough my AR's .... Never had an issue same goes for my vz and mini 14 and t97. No damage or anything else other than dirty guns and smiles on my face

Because there used to be a new thread every 3-4 days with guys crying about the poor accuracy in most rifles, or how the primer blew out and jammed up the trigger group, the pierced primers, the cracked necks and shoulders on the brass, the undersized projectiles keyholing, or the rare story of their rifle being damaged from a case rupture. How about some guys opening up their crate of 5.56 to find it full of 7.62x51AP (lucky guys).

My AR's are worth too much to risk their safety just to save a couple cents a round. My barrels are expensive and I don't want to replace them any earlier than I have to.
If you feed it crap the results you get will be crap. The rifles, pistols and ammo from China have no warranty, no customer service, and no quality control.
If I had a Norinco AR or one I paid less than $1000 for I might consider shooting Norinco ammo.
The cheapest ammo I'll shoot is American Eagle.
 
I've saved enough shooting norc 223 in the past 3 years to buy a brand new DDM4 MK18 or four $500 barrels. I appreciate the ammo snobs out there - it meant I could shoot and stockpile Norinco 223 for longer than I otherwise could.

Fwiw, I've had no problems to speak of other than maybe 5 or 6 that wouldn't fire.
 
And how in God's name would anyone be able to tell which brand of ammo was shot through a given gun without a sworn statement by the gun's owner(and even then..........???????)

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

It looks like shooting Norinco .223 in the AR would affect the resale value for some buyers, but not all buyers.

Shooting the ammo probably won't harm the rifle. I'm going to shoot through my American Eagle and PMC and see if I feel like picking up a few stray cases of Norinco afterwards. I wasn't confident enough to buy the giant bulk packs that were on sale before.

Well, I don't know about you, but I don't buy cheap ammo intending to shoot it thru' and expensive barrel. Nor buy and expensive barrel to shoot plain ball ammo.

My AR's are worth more than most. More than anyone else I know personally.
It's funny tho, my one upgraded to the nine, everything EXCEPT the barrel.

I'll buy the cheapest barrel for that rifle, usually used.
Shoot Norc thru' it, ussually for short range speed, where MOA accuracy doesn't matter.
Shoot until it melts, replace, repeat.

I go out of my way to fine tune the action, make sure it's running like a sewing machine, never have any strange problems I can't explain without the ammo.

Actually, there is one problem I've had with Norc. Specicially Lot 95/31.
BEcause the bullet is slightly undersized, I ended up having to drop a barrel a bit early cause it wore to the point that it can no longer stabalize Norc, but will still work ok with other ammo.

Funny story, lost $5 bet at the range one day, cause that was the day that barrel decided it was done with Norc.

Everyone has their own opinion and our's differ. I'm not telling anyone they shouldn't shoot norc ammo, just that I won't and I won't buy a rifle or barrel if I know it's run norc ammo.
There have been way too many posts from guys having problems for me to risk my rifle. It's just too inconsistent for me to spend money on just to save a few dollars.

My factory 223 AR is a PWS and my others are ones I've built, one of them has a $450 custom stainless 300BLK barrel, one is my 9mm AR, the fourth one is a $3000 AR-10 build, none of mine will ever see norinco ammo other than maybe the 9mm.

Good luck to everyone who runs it and I hope you don't learn the hard way.
