ok finally got mine out to the Smiths Falls range today.

First ran 25 rounds of el cheapo winchester 7 1/2s through it to break it in. Went bang every time. recoil is actually fairly mild the gun tended to push straight back no climb to speak of. did a bit of hip shooting ( held against side of body) - no issues.

fired shells lifted out no problem- light finger pull on right barrel, bit tighter on left - got easier later on. (Better than most of my 870's with this stuff) so a light ceramic ball polish may be in order. Gun snaps closed after loading no issues.

Ran 10 ancient orange S&B slugs - 5 on a b-34 PPC target ( 25 & 15 yards), 5 on an IPSC classic target ( 15 & 12 yards) no recoil issues. on the B34 got 4 point of aim + 3 inches, and 1 shoulder hit at 25 yards. on the IPSC classic 1 hit was high, 4 were POI plus 3 -6 inches high, about 6 inches horizontal spread at 15 yards, 4 inches horizontal at 12 yards. so within 15 yards - minute of bear or moose or zombie - deal with confidence.

Tried 2 rounds of 3 inch turkey loads at 20 yards #5s. patterned high. - solid wall of shot. - recoil definitely was there but manageable.

did notice slight looseness in forend after 20 rounds. but no big deal- will investigate for loose screws.

anyway there you have it boys & girls. So bottom line I'm quite happy -:D:D value for $$, plus half again. Thanks Canam, and a toast to Dave Tomlinson's memory who helped make this possible.

Will post my "bonafides" pic when I figure out how. Cheers All

If you do find the cause of the foreend looseness please post it on here, I have the same issue and can't figure out what it is.

I put a small piece of foam( about 1/8" thick) in the barrel channel of my Backpacker fore end to tighten it up....

Took mine to the range, shot like a dream, extracting was a bit tight, but that just needs to be worked in, tried to take a video for you guys but camera didn't work, so I shot it, then remembered i had it on the wrong setting, ah well, at least I know it aims well 15 feet out.

Will get you a video next week.

JohnC , thanks for the great range report. If you have problems with posting your pics, PM me and I'll post em for you.

I got mine to the range today. That is a lot of fun in a small package :dancingbanana:  !!

The only issue I have with mine is that it's hard to open sometimes after firing. The barrel lock may need a bit of polishing. Other than that, she goes bang every time, recoil is no problem (shoulder or hip) but I do find the LOP a bit long. May look at replacing the pad with a thinner one or chopping the stock. Forgot to take a piece of cardboard to check the pattern, so I shot up the few remaining mounds of snow :D .

My proof of ownership.

These seem like fine guns to me. I hope to become an owner of one in the near future so I can join the ranks of the 30 happy owners who have voted here.

You 10 who are not happy with your Outlaws, fire me a PM. I can give a good home to one of them.

my bona fides

While learning photo uploading investigated the loose forend. Screws were a little loose. tightened them ( Self, apply blue loctite next time you find the tube while looking for something else...) Forend still loose.

Applied strip of ductape to concave end of foreend that mates with action part. Too tight would not close :(

Removed ductape and applied 1 small brown target patch pastie to said concave end. Foreend closed nicely and now rock solid like Bank of England used to be :D ( self, try replacing target patch with small strip of silver aluminum duct tape when roll is found while looking etcetc.)

life is good.:D:D time for a beer...

Not Happy

I fired 10 rounds through it and I could see seperation marks on both barrels. I sent it back to Canada Ammo and am waiting for the replacement. I would have preferred my money back though.
Never again am I going to waste money on a piece of crap like this.
I could have bought 1500 rounds of 9mm and actually had a positive experience.

Another one bites the dust. You wouldn't have any pic's of the barrel separation would you?

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Barrel and rib soldering of a sxs is a potential weakness if not done properly. I've seen guns costing far more than an Outlaw have rib problems.

Any chance you can work an arrangement to get a different gun from them? The 870 clones are better guns and that 12" Grizzly would be a fun gun to play with.
