Dominion Powders Now Available

Ideally thinking:

.308, most likely Sierra 175 gr 22" bbl

.223 most likely Barnes TSX .70 gr 16" bbl (possibly Sierra .77 gr match king)


Thinking D4895 might be a good middle ground.

Not sure what my thoughts are worth as I haven't actually loaded any of it up yet, but I bought some D4895 for my 308. H4895 and IMR4895 are pretty good in a 308 so D4895 should fit right in.

I too went with the D4895 for my 308 and 223. really good groups with 155 Lapua Scenar-L in my 308. Havent done load for 223 yet
 
I'll have to piece together my data, but anyone else finding this 8208BR to be quite a bit spicier than the books? I'll post some numbers after I sort through my data, but as a rough guide, at below .223 max loads in my 16" barrel, I've got 55gr campros smoking out at 20" m193 velocities.

My other bullet was the 75gr hornady hpbt, chrono was acting up for first few charge weights, got it going for my string of 10 at less than a half grain above hodgdon .223 max and proceeded to kick every second primer out of its pocket with an average over 2800 fps. However, over the 10 shots my extreme spread was under 40 and SD numbers have to be close to single digits.

This was with 5.56 chamber, 1x fired IVI brass, CCI 41 primers, ambient temp -5. More loading to do, but needless to say, ill be pulling bullets and focusing on the lower charge weights again

Yup, it hits pressures way before max in my rifles.

Scary part there is also the -5c temp. Not sure how temp stable it is, but at 30c you might have a.pipe bomb in your hands.
 
I also found I needed to load 308 win in summer temps 9% lower then hornady max with 150gr it shot great there super low es and fps was still fast with a 16inch barrel I was getting good speed with 9% less grs loaded I did 223 load work up in the winter and it was -5 area in a bolt gun i was able to run hornady maxbload with 75 hornady match with 1/2 5 shot groups and shot 1moa 10 shot group at 300y it be around 2875 fps from a 22inch barrel so I'll test some in summer weather to see how it is

Yes it is. But not quite a big difference in my 6.5x47. Just managed the load under what I used with the IMR 8208XBR and it's fine at all
 
Alright, headed back out to the range tomorrow for 5.56 8208br development (lot 16, IVI mixed year brass, cci41). I will be on the hunt for a m193 clone with 55gr campros, and a hillbilly mk262 with the 75gr Hornady (I'm not that much of a clone nerd that I'll spend almost double the cost per projectile to get the Sierra 77). Plan is to aim for ~3100 for the m193 and 2650 for the hillbilly mk262(16"), running from 23.6-24.8 gr and 22.1-22.9 gr respectively.

With the exception of my previous overpressure scenarios (due to my insistence on starting at the high end of .223 data, aiming for 5.56 pressures), this powder is a pleasure to load. In order of volume, my reloading experiences vary through imr4064, 4895, varget, rl15 and without a doubt this powder meters the best through even my basic Mickey mouse RCBS powder thrower. Consistent 0.1gr variance on throws... If I wasn't a coward, I wouldn't even bother weighing charges for my practice loads.

Results to follow. I'm optimistic, as I went all in on the 35lb keg haha
 
I found the D800 to be quite spicy too. 44mag cases started to get sticky in my Ruger Blackhawk at quite a bit lower charges than I was expecting.

Definitely start 10-15% below published loads.
