Don't miss Canada in the Rough this Morning

Just saw it. That Pronghorn appeared to be about 300 yds off quartering away and walking, and it dropped in its tracks - a shot I wouldn't have tried.

What was he using - a 270 WSM? I'd like to see a minute or two per show to talk about the gear, but maybe they did as I missed the start of the program.

He tapes his ballistics on the stock like I do... I thought it said the bullet wieght... might give a clue as to the caliber... the rifle was a Sako 75.

I played it back... I think it said 165 grain Barnes Handloads on his cheat sheet... looking at the action on the Sako I would say it must be a 300WSM.. aparently that new 165 grain barnes triple shock bullet is a boat tail and a real long range performer

He called the range on the pronghorn as 170 - 180 yards when they crested that rise after their little sprint.

Without anything to give reference on the grassland distances sometimes look greater than they really are. All in all it was a nice shot on that quartering away animal.

i missed it oh well i never even known about it is it going to be on every sunday????

It's been on Global for the last 4 Sundays at 7:30 and next week they're in the Yukon hunting Dall Sheep. Set your VCR.... if you still have one.

I enjoyed the show.
'Boo is right, he said the distance was around 170 yards or so.
When the camera did a close-up of him loading his clip, it sure looked like a 300 WSM.

It's been a good show so far. I am hoping to see some whitetail hunts soon.

The host mentioned that he was shooting a .300 WSM in the first or second episode... looks like a pretty effective combination.

Cool... he killed two Dall Sheep... he was definitely not in shape for the first hunt he nearly had a stroke going up and down the mountains.
He gave it to one at 270 yards..... 8)
I wish he would spend a little bit more time talking about the guns and scopes he uses :?

The show is good to sit back and enjoy and picture yourself in the terrian hunting , but the thing I have found is every week Tom shots something and never says #### about what he was using , How far some of the shots are Bullet type. This is something I have an intrest in as well and I would think that some of you would like to gather confidents in caliburs that you own to be able to do the same job. I'll have to talk with him the next time I see him and bring this to his attention  ...BT

Sako 75
Muzzlebrake. so I assume 300 W(s)M or 7mmRM
swarovski bino. ####ty camo for the area.
did not pay attn. to the scope.

they waited 5 1/2 hrs for the second one. seemed like 5-600m.
good info? never approach the sheep from below!

most areas do not allow helis at all. NWT must be different.
