Don't take your Black Rifle to PoCo!

Like it or not there are more hunters and non-black gun shooters than otherwise. Why risk turning any of them against black gun owners? Get them on side with the facts.

There are more hunters/non-black gun shooters but not all want to ban them. ;)

For some they just dont have the same appeal as a good rifle with a nice wood stock (namely me). :dancingbanana:

Update :)

I sent an email describing the incident to the President of PoCo, Murray Gardner and received a very positive, supportive and encouraging response from him. :) Thanks Murray!
As a result of our email exchange, I will continue to be a member at the Poco Club. I am satisfied that everything possible will be done by the Executive and Range staff to ensure that this type of unfortunate incident does not occur again. However, as Murray pointed out in his email, while the highest safety standards are maintained on the range, it is almost impossible to control the unsafe use of a cell phone. ;)
I feel a great deal better about the whole incident as a result of Murray's response, but will be more aware that there are (sadly) anti-gunners in our own firearms community.
I also applaud the RCMP member who used his discretion to regard the whole situation as a "non-event". Thanks for that.
Just to add: I am not "anti-hunter"...if you read through the thread, you'll see that I was actually at PoCo that morning sighting in 3 hunting rifles for my son and his two buddies. While I don't hunt myself, I encourage anyone who wants to go hunting to do so. It's what makes us Canadian.

Great job Six Star, i'd love to get a chance to go shooting with you when I make it back home to B.C. :D

Call me petty, but I'd be going through that days log in book with a fine tooth comb, and call everyone who was there prior to the cops arriving.

I'd want some face time with the piece of ####.

sixstar
what happened to you was not acceptable;
i am glad that you are keeping your poco membership; hopefully something like this will not happen again!

Yes, whoever called the RCMP that morning was a POS to be sure....a very yellow-bellied POS at that. However, he's the one that has to live with that, not me. ;)
I'm confident that the PoCo executive have taken this matter VERY seriously and will address it.
I should also mention that Murray also apologized to me for what happened on behalf of the Club Executive. You can't buy that type of class. :)

I am dismayed to report that every time I go to the Sherwood Park range there always seems to be at least one AR guy around. More seem to be showing up on the range all the time.

It makes me jealous! :)

I have NEVER had a problem with the AR guys; they are all friendly and half of 'em will let you shoot their rifles if talk to them long enough. The crabby old stubfarts are reminded that most of us guys shooting black rifles are also ardent hunters and anglers too.

It would have been much better if the call had gone in that there were a whole pile of machineguns up at the range rather than some crude island built thingamajig masquerading as one

Oh well done, very well done.:D

I guess that's what those numbers on the back of my head mean...

Hey Six star...
I've just finished reading the thread and can't believe what happened! I am glad that things have been mitigated and you are sticking around. :dancingbanana: (I need another Wheel Gunner there to keep me company!) After all the dust settled, it looks like there are more supportive and upstanding "gentlemen" (and I use the term incredibly loosely) then the one Cretin that set this off . One of the things you can bank on, Whomever (or who ever, i can never remember...) it was that called needs to educated in:
1) Range etiquette
2) firearm recognition
and finally
3) just be cause he have testicles, doesn't mean he has any BALLS.

With the right education presented to him (hopefully if/when he shows up at the range) not only will it be re-inforced, but he'll know that his actions are an insult to ALL firearm Owners. (I was going to put that he may be embarrassed as well, but seeing his actions I don't think it would fizz on him).
