Don't take your Black Rifle to PoCo!

The issue of daycarders is an interesting one.

The perception is that daycarders cause much of the vandalism of target stands and general destruction on (unsupervised) ranges. We now quite possibly have an example of a daycarder's poor attitude to the rest of the shooting fraternity ... a lack of solidarity to say the least!

Should clubs end the practice of allowing daycards except when as a guest of a member? Does the selling of daycards allow some people the luxury of thinking that they need make no commitment to the shooting sports in general because, quite frankly, they have nothing invested in it.

Just a thought ... I've heard it batted about at times, but more for the reason of defending club facilities than anything else.

its just not as simple as that.i am a member of poco, but go shooting as a quest at squamish quite often.squamish has a thing about locals only as members so i'm stuck being a quest for the time being.would i like to go as a drop in?sure, but not being a member or quest of a member just doesn't cut it if no one else is there to open the gate.my mother- inlaw lives in gibsons,so again i go to schechelt as a drop-in.i just don't go there often enough to get a membership.thats three ranges i go to already nevermind when i was shooting trap ,i would go to another range in poco area,i just can't remember its name right now.

drop-in is a great concept, lets not ruin it because of a very small percentage of ash@@ts.

just like firearm owners across this country don't want to be villanized because of some mentally disturbed piece of dirts actions.

Thank you, that is what angered me about your initial post. You state that you are new ( and that's great - welcome to the shooting brotherhood ) but because you had read about 1 ####### you had decided PoCo wasn't worth joining.

Well the truth of the matter is that shooting clubs or hunting and fishing clubs like PoCo and many others are the result of a lot of work from a lot of dedicated people. Once you pay your 1 or 2 hundred dollars for your membership your responsibility doesn't stop.

The presidents, v.p., executive, tresurers, etc, etc, all put out enormous amounts of their own time and energy. The volunteers spend many hours working and contributing.

PoCo has had people like that for many years as ALL clubs who have been around for awhile have ( 50 years for POCo this year ).

Never let the stain of one ####### colour the rest of us or we will all be lumped in with likes of Marc Lepine or this Gill #######.

And don't get sucked in with hate bull#### about Elmer Fudds/ rednecks/ evil blackgun shooters. We are all together and we all need one another.

Yes, but in the end it may be necessary for ranges to protect themselves and their membership. I can see disadvantages to such a move, but allowing people with no investment in the facility to shoot there for a modest fee is almost asking for trouble. It only takes a few jerks to destroy a substantial amount of community effort.

Eventually the only answer may be to limit access to those who have an incentive to behave for fear of losing their membership or because they feel some pride of ownership or belonging to their club. People who can pay $15 and just walk away, who need not pay further dues or volunteer their time to repair damage to club property have no real incentive to behave themselves.

I suppose one might hope that common decency and respect for property might have some influence on people's actions. Sadly, in this day and age these are qualities that are all too rare.

that's freaky! As a gun owner, I always feel vunerable and like I have no rights with the law. I always feel like somewhere somehow they can just snap their fingers and deem a gun illegal, therefor no longer mine. I go there periodically and I see a lot of nice people, but am AMAZED that somebody on the FIRING LINE called the cops! Wow! I guess they can't release the person's name?

they can probably get sued.... As for the guy who called the cops, they probably dont even know the guys name etc....

Everyone using the TMSA range has their name recorded .... members sign in and daycards are to show id when they sign in. I would be surprised if PoCo didn't have a similar policy.

I would be surprised if every 'daycarder' even actually pays up at Poco, I think some of them just scam their way in... it's often very busy up there, could probably use another guy just for this.

One thing, iirc, daycarders aren't allowed on the unsupervised ranges, even as guests.

For what it's worth, maybe to be a "daycarder" a person should be a member of a H & F club some where, Than they might(?) have the same feeling of pride and respect for the facilities they visit as they do of their own club.
( I know, I know... there are those that do not like to conform or assimilate.)
Thats the catch 22 of democracy

I wish I could bring my AR to PoCo, but its a USA gun and that mag and the 4 others I have aren't pinned at 5. :D

BTW when you lose your guns anyone wanting to make some money contact me, I will be buying them for dirt cheap but I know the Govt wont give you #### for them! :D

Dude, that aftermarket clad bottom feeder gun of yours will stop running long before we have our ARs taken away by the Govt., and that's not trash talk...That's Science:cool:

If they freak out with ARs, I want to see what they'd do when people start to bring their Tavors to PoCo. They might attack you...

You really need to talk to the Exec. of the club and have them publish(signs, newsletters, etc.) what is allowed and what isn't, so everyone using the facility knows.

I seen you shoot, you have no say in anything.

Tell you what, to save time and what no doubt will be you incessant reposts here are the answers.

1. It is is your clamp on gas block coming loose...not ammo related
2. Your unstaked gas key has come loose...not ammo related
3. Your wonderful match chamber needs cleaning...not ammo related
4. Your retaining ring has come loose because it was not staked
...and 5. Not sure how you could have seen me shoot since I've never seen your ass on the Vokes firing line, yet somehow a 75 year old Marine from the USA makes it out year after year and does the rundowns.

5 whole mags eh?? You Warrior you:confused: ;)

Nothing as come loose at all..... except your mouth so shut the #### up! I'll talk to you when I want some butta chicken!
