Edited to add..............Doug here, using bullcoon's computer, thought I was logged in as myself but I see that I am not.......
Thanks very much, guys.
The rifle I am using is a Remington 700 Classic with a Burris Fullfield II 3-9X40 scope with their ballistic reticle or whatever they call the semi-mil dot whatsit. I did have it at nine power for the shot. 8) The ammo, believe it or not, is old Winchester yellow box 180 grain silvertips!!! We did recover most of the bullet, in three pieces, but some other piece(s) had exited the chest cavity. I have my dies, brass, and some Nosler Partitions out here but have not made any new ammo here for it. I had shipped the rifle out in advance of my flight - and asked bullcoon to confirm the zero with the silvertips. He shot two touching at a hundred yards, so I did not want to fiddle with that. (BTW the rifle has shot anything I put through it with the same kind of accuracy...

)
This morning Bob shot a very nice, heavy buck using one of bullcoon's rifles - a Remington 700 in 7 mm Rem Mag. I reckon that buck field dressed between 225 and 240, a very prime deer indeed. He is hanging in the tool shed and his hide is off, to cool him down a bit. The shot was apparently 200+ yards offhand at a quartering away profile, so that is two eastern boys doing some fairly decent shooting! 8)
We have taken pics but they will have to wait until Bob and I get to our own home computers to be able to download them.
Anyways, Larry and his wife Mary are fabulous hosts and we are having a grand time. They have allowed me into their kitchen a few times and so we had one dinner of stuffed baked deer heart, and last night I did up liver and onions. Very strange thing for me, we did not share the tenderloins "in camp" amongst the hunters - so mine are heading back with me to Ontario along with a cooler of prime venison. We have had fairly warm days here (plus twenty kind of thing) and below freezing at night, but it is too warm to hang the deer for an extended period. We butchered up my buck yesterday and it is in the freezer waiting for its plane ride home. (Yes Houligan we will do a swap when you get that fabulous moose sausage done up! :wink: )
Now we need to see Larry whale a monster buck, and show us easterners a thing or three............. :roll:
