I sold all my handguns to acquire nothing but SIG pistols now. Up to 3 sigs. Let that speak for itself.

I'm just selling everything to buy Sigs![]()

opinions aside Sig is simply a better gun period. more battle proven, used my more defence forces etc, BUT when it comes to CPO's I would HIGHLY recommned you have an amourer look at it. some are near mint some have seen a zillion rounds. At the the end of the day buy what you like better, the smith is not a bad gun.

Well.........no. Sig's are good, yes, but a Sig with a broken spring cup is a paperweight and they still make that stressed component out of plastic (Apex makes a metal one). Sig's require careful attention to strip and reassemble properly for major cleaning. It is possible to re-assemble a Sig, test it and have it not work with ammunition in it. Sig's will fail the same as any other pistol. If you look around on pistol-training dot com, you'll find a list of the failures that Tod experienced in one year when he was working for Sig - I was shocked. There is NO pistol made which will not fail.
That is my take as well...I like the SIG I own, but I have noticed that around here they are more of a status symbol than anything else. SIG has well-documented QC issues which developed since the middle of the decade. They are potentially a great gun - and specifically the P226 is the best of what they offer IMO - but there is no guarantee that you're buying something excellent. Try to see past the large number of people who will tell you that the SIG is the ultimate just because they spent $1500 on theirs.
Hell, I have lost track of the number of people I've seen write things like, "mine is perfect...400 rounds down the pipe and not one malfunction".
That is the equivalent of saying, "my new car is perfect...idled it in the driveway this morning for an hour, didn't stall once".
So be careful not only in what advice you take, but also in whose advice you take. The SIG is a good pistol; the M&P is also a good pistol. Not many people shoot enough to really tell you much about why one is better than the other, unless "feels really solid" vs. "feels plasticky" matters to you.
