Ducks Unlimited vs angry gunowners

So can we just sum it up please.

DUC is not DUUSA. In DUUSA, the organization recognizes, welcomes and supports hunters. In Canada DUC is all about conservation and is neutral on hunting, despite willingly sucking up funds from hunters for years...until the rubber hits the road. Then Jim Couch will sit on his couch, not say a word on the FAC and pretend nothing about this has anything to do with guns.

Buckmster, Ardent, Couch and the rest of "well technically..." crew can grab a piece of humble pie and recognize their goose is cooked.

:agree:

That's totally fair and we all get to where we are at at different times for different reasons...

As I became a parent I became a tad more militant for the long term sustainability of gun rights because I have 2 daughters...
To your point I wouldn't want them to not be able to hunt if they choose to do so because conservation failed....

Conservation has generally wider support then firearms but it should not...

Trying to normalize firearms to the same degree should be important and could very well be helped by DU....

I do no want to be on my death bed and explain to my daughters that they have no ability to defend themselves...

I want to be able to say I fought tooth and nail every day of my life....

Admittedly some days are better then others...

Fair enough all counts, though conservation should be given a thousand times the magnitude gun control is, there we heavily disagree in importance. Guns are just metal, plastic, and / or wood, conservation, wildlife, and the environment are far bigger and more complicated considerations your and my kids future quality of lives depends far more heavily on than guns. I’m all for pushing to keep semis, but I separate it from conservation.

I think we agree that quality of life will certainly be affected and I have no interest to see Canada destroy its habitats or natural beauty...
I think conservation shares a huge audience and support or at least much much larger then guns.
I don't think free speech and firearms rights will be preserved through conservation so in that respect they are seperate.

Guns are just metal and plastic and wood but they are the canary in the coal mine for what freedoms my children will have imo.
Im not sure how many wetlands the Communists had but Im pretty sure you didnt get to enjoy them if you werent on the politburo...
Even if we get to the point like NZ, conservation will likely still have wide support...
If we get to the point of NZ, conservation will have a bit of a different shade like we are seeing with DU which is a slow move away from advocating for hunting or outright discontinuation of land use for hunting purposes... maybe not...
Sounds like in the last statement they made it was more their lack of support for hunting then it was the petition that got everyone up in arms.

If you want to save your environment, try getting out of your car at your food stops instead of sitting there idling your car while you wait to feed your overweight @$$. Instead of lining up up the carwash waiting your turn to wash your precious piece of metal, plastic, rubber, go hand wash that crap and do yourself some good, Get your lazy over privileged teenager to walk to school, how about using the block heater on your car instead of blindly idling that $### for 20 minutes in the driveway. No mbv amount of donations to DU or any other group is going to stop peoples own stupidity, ignorance, and all out laziness.

I have no issue with Ducks Unlimited limiting themselves to conservation efforts.

What I don't understand is why one of their higher ranking members ( ex president I believe) is on the Canadian Firearms Advisory Committee and supposedly their to represent gun owners that hunt?

Stay in your lane if that's your thing..... but don't take up the limited supply of air in a currently one sided Liberal appointed conversation around gun laws.

Make up your mind.
You start a new thread on something you have called stupid and worthless.
You appear mercurial and I have doubts you support the petition.
I understand being passionate about what you believe in but you must have the same respect for other people's passions which may not be the same as yours.
Find a common ground, start there, not with attacks and division.

Well I guess your right....people are free to act like selfish idiots. Lets destroy a small ecosystem in spite of a stupid internet petition that means NOTHING. Childish...but go ahead hope it makes you feel good because after all its "your land"

Sounds more like an adult temper tantrum....guys advocating the destruction of wetlands and burning Ducks Unlimited camo and clothing cause DU wont link a worthless petition. No wonder nobody takes this community serious.

Thats about the dumbest thing Ive read in a while. Lets kill off all kinds of creatures habitat over a worthless online petition? Shameful.

100% correct. You do not have to join a "group" to make a difference. "Do or do not there is no try" Yoda had it right from the start.

Well now, this is timely, Princess Auto has DU chappeaus awn sale in their seasonill department...……………...:onCrack:

DUC and Princess Auto. Making all your dreams come true.

I’m all for pushing to keep semis, but I separate it from conservation.

I agree that they are somewhat separate issues. But I do see them intertwined in the sense of our and future generations being able to appreciate that wildlife. Today it is semis, tomorrow it is everything, the next it is hunting, fishing, floatplane access, you name it. Next thing you have a generation detached from nature, facing big hurdles just to get out there.

I don't see the current issue as only about semis. I see it as a debate about all guns, because this is an increment toward the final goal of -all- guns. Then the next thing, on and on. I don't see any reason not to firmly stand our ground here.

You have no idea.

That's not an endorsement by any stretch of the imagination. So you went to the edges or inside a DUC area and shot a gagger muley because "conservation" using a bolt action with DUC hat. Then you encouraged your kid (I assume) to tooth a scrotum? That's messed up.
