EE craziness… now I’ve seen it all.

Why do you care???? The owner can ask $120,000 if he/she likes. As the owner that is their prerogative. If it is more that you think is worth, just move on.
I have no interest in the gun. It’s just an example that illustrates how I feel more and more people have unrealistic expectations. Just an observation.

If you don’t like people pointing out idiocy, then don’t read this thread… just move on ;)

The latest wacko posting. $12K for a basic M1 Garand ex-grenade launching rifle that’s been sanded and the grenade sight mount holes doweled over by bubba.

Is it me, or does the EE get more absurd with each passing day?
The way people approach the sale of anything Firearms related still baffles me to this day. Sure sometimes you find a deal, but so many people buy a gun for $2000 and then sell it for $2000 and say you're saving the tax. Maybe I don't get it, but when I post an item on ####### it's legitimately a good deal. I sold a red dot recently (nothing special, a Bushnell Incinerate) for $50 bucks. I'm not looking to profit off my items, just make back some money and help someone else get something at a good deal. I'm hoping they pass it along.

Telescope with tripod. :) Astrophotography can get hella expensive.

1990's... single shot 50 bmg... 10k price tag...
You might as well just call Rick from ATRS out by name. ;)

Anyone who knows him and reads this will laugh, and agree.
there is truth in the cost of astrophotography. Thought my shooting hobby was expensive until I started down that path..... :(

As you've never used the EE, why the interest?
I have used the EE, not to sell but to buy. However, that is irrelevant and the OP has said that he/she has no interest in the add that prompted this thread. Why are you not asking them “why the interest?”. The point of my post was pretty simple ( or at least I thought it was). Simply put, nobody OWES another a “ good deal”. The value of anything is what someone is willing to pay OR what someone is willing to sell for. I find lots of stuff that I REALLY want but pass because it is not worth to me what it is worth to the seller. I don’t #####, I just move on. When something belongs to someone else, it is up to that owner to decide what it is worth to THEM. It is just so narcissistic and selfish to expect someone else to price something to YOUR satisfaction as if others OWE someone a deal because they want the item, even worse when someone #####es and they don’t even WANT the item in question.

You really need to think about your views a little here. By your argument, if someone sees something fantastically odd they should never comment? Must be pretty boring to hang out with you and your friends.

12k for a humped and mis-described Garand is a stand out oddity when good ones are selling all day long in the EE for under 3k. It’s not narcissistic to point out an asking price that is otherworldly or absurdly unrealistic. I would be with you if I was moaning over it maybe being 50% or even 100% over-priced, but $400%? That ceases to be a serious ask and just becomes entertainment.

It would be like buying a brand new car for 30k, poking holes in the body panel, duct taping over them and repainting the car, then listing it for $120k. It’s bound to attract all sorts of comment from people not interested in buying such a POS.

The real question is why are you so upset I called it out? Are you shilling for the wacko seller?

On my end, I just hope no newbies with more cash than common sense fall for this seller’s BS.

Every second sks is non refurb when 99.9% are refurb. Just that some didn't need much done to them.
And yes, some prices on rifles are above the asking price of a new one at most stores! They can't really want to sell them, some prices are so high, even a low ball offer would be too much for the gun!

Gun Post has become a ####show. There are guys who buyout Henry's and Marlins and post them up for hundreds over retail. Yes, they're "hard to find" because you bought them all from the store. Who is buying a Marlin Trapper for $3k?

Everyone thinks their boomstick is magical - when firearms are mostly commodities at the end of the day. It's like driving a car, any car, off the lot - value drops soon as it's out the door. The really rare stuff, say an APC308 (pre-ban) might command some value previously - but everything else I won't even look at unless it's 25% off MSRP, at the minimum. What the seller paid for it originally is entirely irrelevant.

Why? Because guess what when I pay taxes to a retail shop I am: 1) supporting my local gun store, 2) can return it for refund within a reasonable time period, and 3) exposed to zero chance of fraud and can get gun smithing done, even on milsurps. No EE ad will ever match this.

I have met a lot of cool peeps on EE though; but the biggest laughs for me is full retail ask on ammo. Ubiquitously available anywhere ammo.

Gun post started it with having no bar for entry. Anyone could join and throw up something for sale minutes later.

Actually, not anyone can join and post something. I joined last Wednesday, got in touch with two sellers, including one via phone and tried to post a .22 for sale. I was then blocked from the site. I can't for the life of me figure out why and despite sending 2 emails politely asking for an explanation I have heard nothing.
