I am done with being the Match Director for the Zombie Match at EESA; as it stands!
I enjoy the idea of a Zombie 3 Gun Match......but......the scoring.....targets......logistics etc, are a bugger!

Also, after the last IPSC match I ran, I was disappointed with the level of participation with my fellow IPSC EESA'ers as far as setup went......I have no complaints about the RO's that helped out with the match proper, or the few members that came out to help on Saturday and Sunday to help patch, score etc..

I also had a run in with a shooter that made me want to say #### it for putting on any other match again......I am done with putting up with ####headed shooters!

So here is the deal.....the weekend is booked for the Zombie shoot on Sept 6,7 and 8th weekend.
I am willing to keep the date and use it for a 3 Gun Match of some description......but, I am LEAVING IT ALL UP TO YOU....and I mean all those people that want to have a match.......you need to commit yourself to help out...either by designing stages, setting up stages on the Friday, tearing down stages, getting sponsors if you so wish, getting prizes if you so wish......etc....etc...

If you guys want it........you guys can have it........but you are going to have to put in some work to make it happen.....the dates are booked.....and they can be cancelled on the last Monday of this month...which is my plan.....unless...

By all means, if someone wants to take over being the match Director for the Zombie Match..... let me know, and things can continue as they were.....

That is where I am.....

I feel obligated to make this post as people keep PM'ing me and asking me personally.

So what is it to be?

As I said in my PM to you, I'd gladly travel down to help with setup and I will stay to help with the teardown. I don't have the experience to design stages and since I'm not a member of EESA I don't know what kind of gear/material/ranges you have available but I've got a strong back and I'll work my ass off to help make this event happen. IMO there are too few of these multigun events in SW Ontario and it is sad to see them go.

So to whomever is thinking of stepping up as match director, count me in as a grunt. I may be able to scare up a few others from my club to help out as well.

I also wanted to mention that it irks me to no end to hear that ###hole shooters crap on you and make you want to stop putting on matches
It was 7.62mm, Onagoth, and Lonedrone who ran an intro-to-multigun last year that helped get me and a few guys (who are now good friends thanks to that day) into 3-gun. These guys have worked hard to run matches like the Zombie Match, Polar Bear Match, 2-gun matches, etc. and they deserve our thanks and our support.

I am not a member, and about half an hour away. I shot the stages last year and was very impressed. The 3 gun matches in SW Ontario are scarce. Lets keep this match going. Let me know what i need to do. I can help set up friday, do some planning. This is definately something we don't want to loose.

All it takes is people pitching in. Thanks to those that help put this match on the last couple years.

PM's are welcome.

Well to the guys at EESA, Team hoser will volunteer to design and set up and run one stage of the match. We have appreciated all the help EESA members have given to us and for supporting us, so in the spirit of shooting and team work we will do our bit. Let us know either way and we will there for the 3 gun shooters of Ontario.
Signed Team Hoser

Perhaps this is the way to go... 4-5 "teams", each tasked with a stage to set up and run.
There will need to be some communication and inventory done to ensure each stage has what gear it needs and to make sure we don't end up with a match that takes 40 days and 40 nights to get all the competitors through...

I vote we ditch the whole "zombie" motiff and just go with a more IMG rules 3-gun...

Just my 2 cents...

and that's why I wont start shooting zombie 3-guns :p

people can only do so much before they burn out, and unfortunately the others only learn that once the matches they took for granted are gone.

I like this idea; you Guelph guys are not just another bunch of pretty faces who can shoot! :p This might be a more sustainable model for running these events to avoid burning out the handful of people who put them on year after year. I'm going to talk to some shooters at Galt SC and see if I can get them to commit to a stage just like TH has.

I shoot at Colby in Waterloo Tuesday nights at Defensive pistol. I will talk to my guys about the idea of running a stage as I wholeheartedly agree that there are not enough three gun matches.
Great idea!

I'm not a member of EESA but I'll come down & help if I can join in the fun. I don't have the expertise to design a course but anything I can help with I will.

Ok I spoke with the 3-gun shooters at Galt Sportmans Club and following Team Hoser's lead, we will look after a stage as well.

7.62mm perhaps you could be convinced to stay on as MD and coordinate all of us who have stepped up to help?

Anyone who's ever had any involvement with setting up and taking down a match will understand you. The #####ers and complainers should roll up their sleeves if they know so much.

It's too much for 1 person. I say split it into 5 people, 1 responsible for stage design, 1 for food, 1 for registration, 1 for scoring and 1 for prizes. We did something similar a few years ago. It's too bad it takes one person to burn out to realize how much work a match is.

And shooters, have fun and relax.

Never been to a zombie match but I applaud you for putting them on and doing the work.

PS. And of course a good 10 to 20 people who can work together for the good of the match.

It's too much for 1 person. I say split it into 5 people,

1 responsible for stage design,

Reasonable...

1 for food,

Pack a lunch... It's a shooting match not a wedding reception.
Skip this and have that guy help with stage design.

1 for registration,

Reasonable...

1 for scoring

Again, reasonable...

and 1 for prizes.

If you can scare up some...

Can anyone shed a little more light on this?

- Where is it?
- What are the specific time commitments for the weekend? Is it all day Friday so do people need time off work?
- What are the facilities like (what do we have to work with)?
- Materials available?
- Who will coordinate the separate stages?
- Do we have any concerns with IPSC vs CDP (what the hell is EESA)?
- Are there any requirements for non-IPSC or non-EESA (ie is CDP holster qualified sufficient to participate?)
- How many shooters do we expect and does this mean squad based rotations?

I'm sure there are half a million other questions. I have no idea who 7.62mm is, but I don't think this can occur without some type of coordinator steering the ship.

I understand the frustration in trying to set up a good shoot and being short handed ! Glad to see lots of guys stepping up to help out! As for the guys that just sit back and critique everything, I find they are the guys that show up late and leave early . Good on everyone for lending a hand for this shoot

If you have to ask, you just wouldn't understand.

This match isn't even close to being a "go"... Lol

Folks have offered up their assistance, but there is still need for a MD.
That MD "should" be someone from EESA.

If 7.62 reconsiders and takes on the role of MD... Great. If he doesn't and someone else steps up... Great.
If nobody takes the job... Oh we'll, there are plenty of opportunities for some of us to go shoot other matches where we don't really need to do any work.

I will reiterate my stance re the potential match format.

Let go of the zombie thing... It's just silly.

IMG rules 3-gun... FTW!
