Elegant advice from a store owner /sarcasm

It's not my place to tell him how to use his attitude to win a sale. I couldn't care less to help that store out by teaching them a lesson.
Do you tell the guy at the drive thru window at tim hortens how to correctly place an order and read a screen when he messes up your large coffee, thus ruining your entire morning commute? Or do you keep driving to work soured with your off tasting coffee.

No i never tell the drive thru window guy he got my order wrong.. I just let it boil up inside me until i get to work and then b1tch to all my cooworkers about how crappy the service was, and also post on any related drive thru forums so that coffee drinkers everywhere will know never to go to that drive thru lmfao. Grow a set!

Their lesson will be learned by the slow bleed of customers and their eventual closing when Cabelas opens up 4km's away. Clearly your sarcasm is showing that you really don't understand the issue as your directing it back to me running away from a fight. There is no fights when your a paying customer in a market full of vendors stocking the same items. Its Best service, best prices get my hard earned money. Because my money pays for their groceries and I choose to support those that can run an excellent business.
You are right. I Should have just as soon punch the owner in his face after I voiced that his comment was insulting, then concluded my balls are so large that I buy the manliest firearm. Simply because of a recommendation of the latter being a "chick's" gun by his own subjection.
You are 100% right.

You said it!

If I remember correct, there has been rude gun stores around ever since I got into the sport in the mid 1990s. You know what? They are still around and still making money. They know what they can get away with and still stay in buisness. They may not do as well as the others but they do not go under. I remember thinking the same way when I did not get the walmart style treatment, I figured they would not last a year. They are still around and always will be.

Well they have no competition so where should you go right. Frustrating.

I ran into the same thing when I was trying to buy a 22, the store guy kept trying to sell me 45, all the time telling me that the 22 was for the ladies and kids, best decision I made was to buy the 22, I shot it the most out of everything I own and in fact I have sold off almost everything else but will never sell my 22.

"well you got the big mitts, buy the M&P. (the more expensive one) the issc is small. its meant for chicks you know. Is your wife going to shoot it?"

If a sentence like this offends you, then I think YOU are the problem.

Don't be such a loser.

The gun store cowboy was probably just using some simple psychology to sell you the more expensive item: suggest that item A is more "manly" than item B and most guys will buy it. If necessary, add in some negative reinforcement as well: suggest that item B is "girly".;)

Like a friend was telling me the other day: paint your tools pink and they'll never be stolen on the job site!

It's normal, it's inevitable, in fact it's necessary...but we should know enough to know when we're being played and be secure enough not to fall for it.

I'd be more offended by the patronization implied by such a simple trick myself.;) And the cynical attempt to make money off you, rather than selling you what you wanted or what was most suitable for your purposes.

Where DO people get the idea that guns are 'manly'? The least 'manly' thing in the world is a gun - take any 60 pound 9 year old (either gender), give them a gun and the knowledge of how it's used and Presto! You've got someone who's the potential equal of any human being on earth - and more equal than someone who's spent their whole life studying martial arts, lifting weights and taking steroids. What's manly about that???

That right there is what low frequency single digit IQ mouth breathers would do. Being swayed to make a purchase(or not) because some clown at the counter(or a "friend") suggests an item is "manly" or "girly". If such ignorant behaviour works on you then do us all a favour and stop handling firearms. You're clearly incapable of self thought and have issues. Such BS comments are not "normal" they are what weak, pathetic, and insecure individuals use as an attempt to feel knowledgeable and dominant.

As for the OP and the ignorant comments about him being offended. Nowhere did the OP say he was offended, he simply stated that he had ASKED A QUESTION and got a snide remark instead. The offended individuals are those posting in the thread. The OP clearly stated that he had done his homework and was ASKING A QUESTION. The response he got was evidence of poor service, hence his decision to shop elsewhere.

^^^ This.

This was the store owner an his wife, and if the owner doesn't know his own goods... well ill buy from a canadian tire then. I've been there a few times before and bought few things due to a lack of service that can leave me standing at the gun desk while he chats on the phone about his plans for the night.
Being thin skinned is far from the truth. I treated his comment with the same level of respect. "Cya"
If your going to buy a new truck and the sales person says you'd be a pansy for not buying the Denali, he would be absolutly right... Guess you better man up and buy the denali.

Owner sounds like a goof... however,

If your skin was a little thicker you might have actually said "See Ya" to his face and left it in the store with buddy instead of bringing it here.

Yes; or else a cynical marketer; that's why I ridiculed it.

Are you OK there? Did I say I was swayed by that kind of trick? If you actually read the rest of my post you would have got that I despise that kind of thing.

As for the OP and the ignorant comments about him being offended.

Whose comments are you talking about? My comment was that I would be offended; not much, but some. Mostly I'd be amused, but we know some gun store folks (and owners) do have issues and I'm used to the posturing and loud-mouth, big-man talk by now.

Whose offended? You sound like the most offended person here and you have nothing to be offended about as far as I can see.

I was not referring to you specifically, simply using your post to illustrate my point.

I'm far from offended by the stupidity of those in this thread. I am embarassed at the level of ignorance and lack of comprehension by fellow firearms owners.
