Since when did buying guns become building an emotional connection with the seller? He did his research and should be happy he found it in stock locally. As long as the price is reasonable, fondle the one that fits you best and buy the damn thing! I seriously doubt he's going to bring that employee shooting with you anyway. People are so sensitive these days

Again, some of you don't seem to comprehend what the OP posted. He was not offended, and never indicated such. He simply stated that upon asking a question he received a snide remark in return. Clearly the employee can't focus or communicate any better than many in this thread. The remark the OP received is indicative of a complete a$$hat behind the counter and not someone worth dealing with. The remark in question is irrelevant, what is important is that the question was not answered with an appropriate response. If I asked you what the weather is forecast to be tomorrow and your replied "its apples and lawnmowers" I would refrain from asking any further questions as you clearly don't understand the question. Same applies in this case.

You know I was at a store that advertises here and heard the owner say something like; "That is a well made gun but it will be a problem with low pressure ammo aside from that you should have no problems with it ever. So how does it fit?

Then again he pays the staff far more then minimum wage and I think they get paid extras here and there.

The level of retardation that some store owners have in giving their advice baffles me. I walk into a store ready to drop $4-700 on a new .22lr pistol. now i wasn't sure on which model to buy, but i can clearly say i've done all my homework on the models and other than handling them i had cash on hand for whichever item fit my palm best.

I ended up coming to the conclusion between two that fit well. S&W mp22 and the ISSC m22
my first question was if he had personally had heard of any issues with the ISSC brand? The owners clear response of
"well you got the big mitts, buy the M&P. (the more expensive one) the issc is small. its meant for chicks you know. Is your wife going to shoot it?"
just stunned me... i put the guns down and said "Thanks anyways"

My question was clearly about the brand name. Not regarding what gender the pistol is meant for. Let alone having the knowledge to suggest what "Fits me best"

I think i'll drive 45minutes further north for the fantastic service of Ellwood Epps!

A question was posed and an answer was provided - it sounds like the clerk had personally heard that people with big hands find that the ISSC is too small. Perhaps he had personally heard of more issues, but you'll never know as you walked away.

A question was posed and an unrelated opinion was provided.
The OP was then too "stunned" to get an answer to the original question and instead left the premises.

Then the OP decided to relate his experience here online........a story about a gun shop with lousy customer relations skills.

Failed again.

The counter clown made an ignorant remark. He did not indicate that customers/shooters in his experience find the ISSC to be too small or uncomfortable to shoot. The counter clown also assumed the OP was buying the pistol for himself which could have been incorrect, but the counter clown failed to ask enough APPROPRIATE questions to establish the facts. He shot off his ignorant rhetoric and killed a sale, possibly many more from at least one shooter. Unfortunately this kind of experience is far more common than it ever should be.

Attack the OP

We're barely pointing out that his reaction (and the drama around it)... might be... how should I say... [sorry, can't find a politically correct word]

The owners clear response of "well you got the big mitts, buy the M&P. (the more expensive one) the issc is small. its meant for chicks you know. Is your wife going to shoot it?"
just stunned me...

Maybe I'm missing something, but the store owner simply pointed out that one gun had a bigger grip than the other. And enquiring if his girlfriend/wife was going to use it makes some sense to me.

Of course, maybe there are other facts that we are not aware of that might explain the OP's reaction
- He is bothered by the size of his hand
- His wife/girlfriend/boyfriend recently dumped him... ... ... maybe because of the size of his hands

With this out of the way. Snooze98k, did you ever find what you were looking for? If not, you might want to consider the CZ Cadet... ;)

The clerk was crass, rubbed a potential customer the wrong way and killed the sale.
It's the customers perogative to not buy from the store for whatever reason they choose.

I own the m&p22 and i've fired both guns. The m&p22 is actually built by walther. In my opinion it feels better in my hands. It also eats almost every type of ammo i've fed it. The issc seemed to jam alot, felt small and awkward as it has the same grip angle as the glocks it is trying to mimic. Just because the employee was suggesting the m&p22, I doubt it was because it was "more expensive"(as the OP is suggesting). The m&p22 cost more because its built better (in my opinion) and the clerk could probably see while he was handling both firearms that his "huge mitts" seemed to fit better with the m&p22. The OP just got twisted outta shape because the answers didn't match his "research". He's probably just another know it all princess with thin skin.

Sentences typed out do not convey verbal inflections, pitch, tones, facial expressions, all of the other things we use to communicate besides the actual words. When I read what the OP says the clerk said, it doesn't sound all that bad however it really bothered the OP so maybe I'm applying my own spin on how the conversation went. The profit margin on low end guns is really quite close whether its a 400$ or 450$ gun so I doubt it was the clerks intention to direct the OP to the more expensive gun. If I was accidently looking at a chicks gun I'd be happy if someone let me know before further embarrassment however I'm not aware of any guns that are really considered "chick" guns, except a few pink stocked things out there. Unless it was a pink ISSC, I think it was likely gender neutral. I don't think I'd boycott the store over it

Does anyone else notice that this is now up to (with mine) 76 responses, over 8 pages, of comments due to one guy posting that he was pissed at a store clerk ?????
It tends to remind me of when my three daughters were very young, and bickering among themselves.

If you had of chosen the Browning Buckmark or Ruger MK11 or MK111 you wouldn't have had this life altering dilemma. Both superior firearms than your homework suggested. And both within your budget.

OP found someone he wasn't willing to bargain with, and didn't. Voting with his dollars is the capitalist, free-man way of doing things.
