Elk Pic in current BC Outdoors mag

For some reason I always disliked it when pics of game animals had people sitting on them or anything of that sort, even if the people were kids. I purposely didn't take any pics of my moose and my 2 year old son this year, as any way I tried to set it up looked like he was playing with it or something and it seemed disrespectful.

Tacky and in bad taste for sure. I tend to think of the game I chase as being worthy adversaries, and that in itself means you show a little respect to the animal. Maybe that is too oldschool or "fudd"-ish of me though.

They are noble and majestic animals - not a carousel horse at coney island. I don't think this is a question of growing up, just people have different opinions about what it means to hunt and kill something, and then eat it.

Glad to see her hunting, and wish more people would enjoy such a great thing, but wish she wasn't sitting on it.

Time change. When I was young, you'd see bloody moose heads tied to front bumpers, pic's of "sports" with their foot on a dead critter in a triumphant pose, deer carcasses lashed over Jeep hoods and car roof racks. That pic of the lil darlin' straddling her trophy elk may not be in the best taste, but she's a successful huntress nevertheless. Kudu's to her, I say.

Me either. No skin off my back if somebody else does though...

+1

If she didn't eat it,that would be disrespectful to the animal.

If someone else shot it or it's a farm elk, that would also be disrespectful (to the hunting community).

But sitting on the damn thing? Big deal. People used to strap bloody antlers to the front bumper and park at the titty bar backed into the parking stall and nobody got sandy ######s over that.

You know whats worse? The pics of dead animals (sorry, trophies), with the dude 25 feet behind the animal and the photographer taking the pic from belly level so a 150 pound black bear looks like godzilla. Now thats disrespectful to, well, everybody, especially the dude.

Wow, maybe I'd best not show pics of us holding our geese. maybe they should all be laid out gently on a blanket of roses and mourned over.....ya right!!! Good lord find something else to ##### about. Be glad for the woman, not jealous because she probably hammered a bigger one than you. Grow up!!:nest:

No kidding, It's as if sitting on an animal you harvested is some form of Heresey. By the way ,that girl could be the wife/girlfriend of a fellow CGN'r so I would reserve the insults::slap:

do we all hate gopher pink mist videos taped to metallica too!

She is sitting on the elk no doubt just trying to get a pose holdong the rack and rifle and showing what a monster it is...

if you see something inappropriate, the isue with you, not the pic..

It's always something....

Uh oh, theres blood in the pic,...uh oh, the tongue is out, ...uh oh,.....

it's a 2 year old...how could it "seem" disrespectful....

I think the bigger sin is that you didn't take pics of your two year and the moose, which it sounds like he was interested in..

A woman killed an elk and sat on it, holding the rack up for a picture...

The HORROR!!!
:jerkit:

I bet a puppy was murdered at the same time the pic was taken....

One of the best family hunting pictures I have seen was a father and mother with thier 4 kids, posing by a moose.

The kids were sitting on the moose in various positions, while dad held up the head.

The story that accompanied the picture was excellent, it was about how the whole family went out, dad shot the moose, and they all pitched in and backpacked their winter meat back to camp. Great story, great pic.

could be worse, she could be holding up it's severed heart in one hand, bloody knife in the other, for a photo ;)

the pic is not that big of a deal IMO

How is that pic less respectful than Amphibious pic of his goat?

C'mon...:p:p

she hunted it, she put in the work.its dead, its an animal, not a person, its food, good work on her part ,
we rip grouse apart with our hands to get the meat,That may seem barbaric to vegiefolk. sitting on a huge animal is fine.i sit on a horse and i have eaten it.... he was a happy bull then he was food, good gig.

anyone else find the chubby cowgirl "riding" her dead trophy VERY disrespectful?

pissed me right off

I see a young woman who is pleased that she was able to harvest a great bull elk. I also see a demographic that hunters will need to have onside if we wish to continue hunting...

Calling her "chubby" is uncalled for. Perhaps elk season was not as kind to you this year...
