My "wannabe" comment stands. I have shot with members of various ERT across the country and I’d say that half of them fit this tag, and the other half actually feels this way. Before Covid shut us down, there was a training camp for Quebec City ERT and oh boy it was attitude time in the gym we shared. So yeah my comment could be interpreted as ignorant, but it based on my experience.

That being said, i have made good friends with a lot of them and they are great guys.

They get good equipement, and good for them ! I wish we could have that gear instead of old used outdated stuff


For my LEO background, I actually left on my own and had to fight to get out of there. I went there with the intention to "serve and protect" and was met with the "lets punish people, give tickets and #### people days". I was not for me and i had to go with grievance and ombudsman to return to the Infantry. If I had lost my fight, I would have quit the CAF instead of sticking around.

Been doing it for 17 years now and still got 8 to go.

I did not serve with Edmondton.



PS: please don’t assume you know me or know about my job/career and avoid making false assumptions like you just did with my "retiring" from LEO.

Hahaha, dudes, if they are going to be the "tip of the spear" so to speak, I think they are kitted out just right, small arms, nothing heavy. The mixed gear is kind of surprising, I would have thought everything the same would be important so there's no confusion about who's who. The Gaiters, they do look bizarre don't they, I gotta say that if you're sporting 6" Boots the Gaiters are a nice addition. Looking at that though I think my Gaiter wearing days are over.
 
Everything I see here makes sense when your job requires you to be outside in Canada all day with the possibility of getting into a gunfight.

If you were told to go look for an armed criminal, isn’t this what you’d want? Suppressors instead of earplugs? Plate carriers instead of stab vests? Night vision and laser?
 
Let me just say that I didn't start this thread to criticize anyone, and there is nothing in the article or the photographs to criticize. Some of the members who've posted negative remarks in this thread have, no doubt, been motivated by envy of the ERT members' kit and hostility toward their employer, the Government of Canada, due to the recent OIC. That isn't difficult to see, and Trudeau and Blair and their ban have created hard feelings that will last for a long time, but that has just about nothing to do with the article, or the pictures, or this thread; the angry members' are just angry members'.

Perhaps some individuals should face an infraction - that is for a moderator to decide - but this thread has broken no rules, and I take offense at any suggestion that the entire thread be sacrificed because of the actions of a few individuals. To those of you who've made that suggestion, I have to ask: who are you trying to emulate? Justin Trudeau? Bill Blair? (If so, you're doing a great job.)

This thread should not be locked.

Honestly, if there is no inquiry into NS/Portapique, then we definitely know something is up.

Let's see how long it takes for those cowboys to loose their ARs or handguns or whatever else. RCMP looses alot of stuff it seems.

You learn quickly enough what is useless after running behind a k9 covering your arcs of fire for 5km. Up and down hills, ravines, etc while still feeling soreness/aftereffect of the K-9 bite. Psychopathic crazy !@#!@# hell dogs.
