Enfields

Just recently picked up an LSA MK II*. British guns are new territory for me, so forgive my ignorance. I believe it is a Lee-Metford. It has Lee Patents which I thought meant commercial, but it has some proof marks on it. I hope its worthy of being posted here.
I don't wanna tie up this thread but I'll post more pics in a new thread if any of the experts can help with identification.

Wow lee metfords seem to be coming out of the woodwork lately. You should indeed post a separate thread, you'll get lots of answers from the gurus on here that way!
 
I wonder if someone could do me a favour... I recently inherited a sporterized Lee Enfield No4 MKI. I was able to find a set of original stocks from Marstar but no where can I find any of the Barrel Bands. Could someone be ever so kind to take some close up pictures and measurements of the bands? I am hoping I could try to fashion a set that at least resembles original. Any help of bands on (or if possible off) the rifle would be greatly appreciated. Also information like if all the bands are identical or if some are different sizes. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I found some Center Bands on EE that I sent a note off for. What other parts should I be looking for now?

Yippe! Back in the Enfield club!

Just picked up a 1943 No4Mk 1/2 that was FTR'd in 1948. 5-groove, very nice! I can't wait to shoot it! It has been almost 10 years since I had an Enfield. So pumped!!!

Just recieved the third sister today so now I have a 1945 matching reciever & bolt, a 46 all matching mag stock reciever barrel and bolt as well as a 47 matching stock reciever bolt and barrel.
All are No5 Mk1 (ROF) F and all bores look really good. All bolt heads are No.1

Just received my first full wood LE. A 1942 Savage No.4Mk1*

Could anyone tell me what the LAD 6 written on the buttstock would refer to? The FTR part is pretty obvious.

Cuddle the old girl tonight before you go to bed and whisper "you are my Enfield, there are many like you, but you are mine" and after that, it'll be smooth as butter. Or just do a thorough cleaning, might be some old oil and dust gumming it up and finish with some oil on any surface where theres going to be metal on metal contact.
 
I have great interest with the Lee Enfield series. Been looking around several online places for Lee Enfields on sell. Can anyone give me some tips to look for when shopping around? Unfortunately budget for me at this time is tight. Also the British 303 caliber is pretty expensive to acquire and hard to find. Is there a Lee Enfield variants that have been converted to 5.56 or 7.62 caliber available for purchase for civilians? I know the British did convert some of there Lee Enfields to 7.62 NATO.

Depending on the condition, you can pick up a sporterized lee enfield for around $200. As for the 7.62 converts, I believe the british ones were somewhat unreliable (I could be wrong), but ishapore made a 7.62 variant called the 2A (someone might have to correct me on that). But those usually sell for around $800-1000 on the EE. Your best bet, since you're on a budget, is to do what I did: buy a sporterized lee enfield, and reload your .303 ammunition
 
Random question instead of making a thread.. I have a No1 MKIII sporter. What does value 2, 4 all the way to 20 signify on the iron sight? I know it's for elevation, but wondering what exactly they mean.
